Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by chablis on Jan 26, 2008 12:21:31 GMT 1, Thanks for your response
Alright so a month of not having the POW site available and my brain has gone to mush. It is quite likely that it was indeed £20 and yes it is the unlimited poster version I am refering to. I just find it difficult to believe that POW and sites like allposters are selling very same print. Not that it is important in the big scheme of things but who published / distributed it? I thought that it was a POW exclusive.

Could have been a tenner originally. The soup cans don't do anything for me, even with the story behind them, so I've not got one

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by chablis on Jan 26, 2008 22:17:04 GMT 1, Well we've established a price £10 + £10 to cover p&p, shall we call it £20 ;-) . Seriously though I am tracking a few on the bay and I know there are more to come, I just wanted to get an honest one that had come from POW and for a fair price.

I guess they were not printed by POW, but are 100% official

I imagine the idea is that anyone can buy one for £10, thus making art even more affordable than the prints...... (which are also sold out now anyway)
therefore I assume it will just run and run, on and on. although like all similar businesses (e.g. records, books, magazines) there can come a time when re-printing is not economically viable...

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by stencilope on May 11, 2006 3:41:57 GMT 1, Not to be a troll here, but does it really freaking matter?
Why does the first question ALWAYS have to be about speculative values, numbers, and collectability?
The real question should be, do you even like it? It's a bloody poster. If you like the image, buy it and hang it on your wall. If you don't care for it much, give it a pass. Get out a spray can and make an image you do like!

The issue will always be if you don't like it do you buy it anyway to make a few quid later?? I would only sell any of my own prints etc if I wanted to buy another that I like but could not afford.

My point about the runs, wasnt from a value standpoint. I was just interested in how many there were as they were a bargain and I imagine many of us got them. I have 2, one frame and one I was kindly given by POW.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by Ruggs on May 20, 2008 11:28:40 GMT 1, I purchased the ‘Soup Cans’ unlimited poster from POW for a mere £10 shortly before it was deleted. In the past year or so since, i’ve noticed it readily available to buy on eBay. Early on you could get hold of one for little more than the original purchase price of a tenner. Lately, it’s been selling for anything between £50 - £100 (a ‘Soup Cans’ went for £77 just last weekend). Some sellers have ‘Buy Now’ for considerably more. I’ve recently attended Beejoir’s ‘Souled Out’ at TLSG and Nick Walker’s ‘V for Vandalism’ at BRP. Whilst queuing at these events I spoke to various people about their print collections which mostly comprised of much sought after pieces by Banksy, Nick Walker, D*Face and such like. Much to my surprise though a few were either unaware of ever knowing of the ‘Soup Cans’ availability or were just not at all bothered about ever purchasing it. Okay! it’s low budget, not numbered or signed (if only), although surprisingly the print finish is very good. Anyway, what i’m particularly curious about is how long were these posters available for? and How many did POW eventually sell? Will it become increasingly sought after? Can anyone shed any light on this underrated and maybe potentially rare Banksy print?

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by mammal2 on May 20, 2008 11:32:39 GMT 1, The number is up for debate, but I would say 1000s. They had it up on their site for a good long while and was available to purchase at the Ghetto 06. POW issued this as an unlimited litho so that anyone could own a Banksy at a great price. They may re-release this at any time, but I now doubt it. Its not very rare, and you should be able to pick one up for a round 30 odd quid if you look hard enough. I have one in my kitchen. Its great and one of the best tenners i ever spent!

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by Guest on May 20, 2008 11:40:09 GMT 1, I dont have all the answers to your questions, regarding numbers released. It is an unlimited print, which means they could be reprinted in the future. It is underrated, but i would not call it rare seeing as there are so many on the secondhand market. Still a nice buy for the price. Hope that helps.
