Price of framing!!!!, by iamzero on Oct 31, 2017 13:02:07 GMT 1, I’ve removed Japanese hinges in exactly the same way. Also had to remove some p90 tape using a solvent the same way.

Price of framing!!!!, by chr1s on Oct 31, 2017 14:06:47 GMT 1, chr1s Excellent video, thanks for the upload, very informative indeed. I'm going to have to query Darbyshire on that one as they've stated that the Japanese hinge isn't meant to be removed. Maybe they're alluding to the fact that seeing as it's non destructive there's little point in doing so. This is why conservation tape on the back of a print doesn't bother me, especially on good heavy stock paper. True...you don't have to remove the Japanese hinge/wheat starch as it's completely neutral. However, the video is an example of how quick easy it is to remove and there is absolutely no residual damage done to the back of the print. I work in a museum and have had to deal with all sorts of damaging adhesives on the backs of works on papers. I've also had prints come in that were hinged decades ago with wheat paste and Japanese hinges and the removal is always quick and easy.

Price of framing!!!!, by RoboJ on Oct 31, 2017 15:51:53 GMT 1, I hate reflections so even on the cheap prints i'll get non reflective glass because I love seeing the pieces with minimal distraction.

Price of framing!!!!, by avec art on Oct 31, 2017 15:58:28 GMT 1, I don't care too much for reflections either. But some galleries and art fairs won't actually permit non reflective glass. I think it has something to do with health and safety, the idea being that if a person can't actually see the glass, they're going to put their hand through it or something. Sounds crazy, but I mentioned this issue before and I'm not the only one who has come across this.
