Keep in mind there is no direct correlation between the original price and what people are asking on ebay and in galleries...

He probably provided guidance at the beginning and once the artist figure it out the style and pattern, Banksy let the artist go forward independently...
I would think Banksy is too busy to get bothered with something like this... Unless oh, you are in the camp that thinks that Banksy is it them. I tend to think so myself.

It is likely it is these walls we are seeing in auctions and aftermarket sites.

The surrounding gift shops that sell knock off Banksy had really bad wall sections. Shame they were so awful, as were most of the knock off stuff I saw. I am not above buying a quality knock off if such had existed. I get my carry-on full of stuff from the hotel. But a few more wall pieces would have been cool at a fraction of the price. It is likely it is these walls we are seeing in auctions and aftermarket sites. |
