We are talking about the two brand-new DOBtopus figures from Takashi Murakami and BAIT x Switch. These were released during the Complexcon (2017) in two variants: one with a tentacle curled in front of the mouth (A, retail price $500) and a larger, wider piece with a pair of tentacles directly in front(B, retail price $750); sold out at the show...but perhaps available via private URL as before?
If anybody has any news or link, please share!

I'm not grilling you to doubt you, I ask ask because I offered a lot of money for one but if they indeed took the rare edition and multiplied it by 6 I just can't justify paying that much so I want to understand what I'm getting into with this. Still love these btw.

A close friend who is well connected in the industry told me this via WhatsApp, he was attending ComplexCon, he said that he saw an inventory sheet.
The reason I believe this to be true is that a) He has no reason to lie and b) Last year they openly promoted the edition size whereby this year they have been silent.

I agree that it'd be nice to get an official statement re: edition size before shelling out on the bay. I also think they could easily be the edition sizes stated above based on the available facts.
We'll see, they're nice. Hopefully they release somewhere else as an open edition.

I have NEVER paid resale prices for art in my life so I have no reason to deliberately talk these down.

Also, to clarify the availability and sell-out times for these, there were two (2) DOBS released on Saturday: Mr. DOB (A) for $500 and Mr. DOB (B) for $750. I was at ComplexCon, and my friend and I both immediately tried for DOB (B), and we're able to buy one after some processing delays (I had to try at least 10X before the transaction finally went through). As soon as I secured DOB (B) I tried to buy DOB (A), but it sold out within a few minutes and was not able to buy one. (I was caught up in the rush, so I'm not exactly sure how long it took, but it was less than 5 minutes). DOB B was available for a longer time; perhaps because many people simply went for DOB A first since it was less expensive. In any event, I think we all have to wait until these arrive before we will know for sure about the edition sizes.

My view on this years Dob is that I havenโt seen the box. It was the box that made me buy the set last year. Itโs beautifully done but seems absent this year.
