Banksy Morons Print, by bobbymeachamjr on Apr 7, 2007 16:29:01 GMT 1, Unless they updated their print packaging then there is a very high chance that I will receive the banksy with dings/dents etc to the edges. Why such poor packaging for high end prints?
1. Yes, I am incredibly grateful to have landed a morons here in states 2. It sucks that after the near impossible task of getting a confirmation etc. that I would have to hope and pray that they take an extra 30 secs to stuff each end of the tube with tissue. 3. Almost every print Ive received from POW has dents/dings to the edges and in 3 cases big creases. What gets me is that its easily preventable. 4. Ive returned 2 prints because it was in very bad condition but I kept all the rest with varying "dings" to the edges. It just wasnt worth the back and forth 5. There is no guarantee that they have extra Banksys for those damaged in shipping. 6. In their terms and conditions they say "Every effort is made to make sure your print reaches you in mint condition." - How is this statement valid when they dont even buffer the edges? 7. Ive contacted POW in the past and they said they'll "bring it up to the board"

That's amazing, I've bought nearly every print ever produced by Banksy & many other of their artists and never had a single solitary problem with their packaging. I guess the problem isn't necessarily the packaging quality but the way its handled by some postal services.
You can rest assured that POW always recify problems provided timely contact is made with them.

Banksy Morons Print, by dwight on Apr 7, 2007 17:10:39 GMT 1, Perhaps just better packaging for prints making a long trip. POW can very quickly replace your damaged print if you live in the UK, but if you live far away it can take a while. I also wonder if they will ship with the same method and risk the same damage...

Banksy Morons Print, by corblimeylimey on Apr 7, 2007 18:21:21 GMT 1, I've recieved a damaged print from POW, but I can't fault their return for a replacement service, I decided to have my money back as the print wasn't as impressive as I expected.

Banksy Morons Print, by ricosg11 on Apr 7, 2007 18:33:47 GMT 1, I have certainly brought this up to them and even sent back craft paper with the return with a letter explaining how to wrap a print and they didnt pay any attention. I too am greatful to have gotten a print but if im going to pay 1300usd for some art I want it packaged properly.

Banksy Morons Print, by jam on Apr 7, 2007 19:15:18 GMT 1, Question on replacements... if you get one that is damaged and they have you send it back for a good one, does the replacement have the same number? I ask wondering if they get the damaged piece back and destroy it then have spares about to number and sign if applicable to send back. If not, would the number registry info show the original pricing number of replacement for providence?
Do they destroy the returned damaged prints, I have read some places have a few damaged pieces for sale or sold... just wondered where they come from!

If a run is sold out the only option is to number a spare with the same number you return.

Banksy Morons Print, by dwight on Apr 7, 2007 23:07:34 GMT 1, I worry about them destroying prints that are returned. As dependable and helpful as POW seems, I wonder which employee will get the damaged print to hang in their office and then find its way for sale in 5 years. I've seen un-numbered prints that the number has been erased come up for sale and other suspicious prints with no numbers...

Banksy Morons Print, by bobbymeachamjr on Apr 7, 2007 23:27:39 GMT 1, I guess the problem isn't necessarily the packaging quality but the way its handled by some postal services.
policeaware the issue IS the poor packaging quality (or lack thereof). One expects some rough handling by postal services but if the tube arrives in good shape one expects the print to be mint. With PoW this is often not the case. You might receive the prints in great shape but it doesnt mean the packaging is good. In fact its terrible. The print is totally exposed! Im assuming you receive the prints the same way I do - print in a tube rolled up in a piece of tissue. Not even protection for the edges. Simple crunched up piece of tissue on both tube ends to buffer would go a loooong way and I just dont understand why they dont it. Minimal time to implement. Ideally, one would roll the print in oversized craft paper so the paper act as buffers and the whole print itself is protected.

Every print I have ever received from POW has been in mint condition & yes they are packed in the way you describe. So as they've arrived in mint condition for me everytime then as far as I'm concerned the packaging has done its job and is adequate.
I'm sure if you called them and asked them to do something special since you have a history of receiving damaged prints then they'll be happy to oblige.

POW is a very small company with only a handful of trusted staff. They would not allow prints to find their way back out of the business, they are destroyed. 'hang in office' I guess from your comments that you've never actually been to POW.
The prints sometimes seen on ebay without numbers were stolen from the printers before the printing was taken in-house, if you search the forum you'll find numerous discussions regarding that subject.
Stamped prints without numbers but which do have the POW stamp like the recent signed Applause have a different story attached to them that is more about the buyers actions rather than POW.
Stamped prints without numbers but with a heart are gifted prints sometimes given to charity events or deserving causes. These should always have a cast iron story/povenance with them.

Ok jollroger your location would make a personal visit difficult. Other memebers will have collected stuff from POW though & know what I mean.
You've no need to worry about returned prints being re-released. POW are very passionate about doing the right thing.

There are a lot of un numbered prints that have been stolen from various print shops over the years, these are the ones that are popping up on the bay. They are real, its just they will never have Provenance so would be hard to sell legitimately

Why would someone erase a #?? wouldnt this devalue the print A LOT. What have these sold for in the past?

Banksy Morons Print, by krazy on Apr 10, 2007 11:50:23 GMT 1, Hmm... turns out it wasn't the Banksy print at all. It was a very unexpected, and much appreciated gift from the Beautiful Losers collection..
The good news though, is that it was rolled in PoW branded tissue paper. Hopefully they'll do the same with the Banksy .
Here's a couple of pics:

Banksy Morons Print, by pastiepie on Apr 10, 2007 12:51:57 GMT 1, The postman came by this afternoon and I was all so excited about receiving a shiny new Banksy. To my astonishment he was holding 3 tubes. Not Banksy but the teabreak set from lazyape which are all hand sprayed and look great.

Banksy Morons Print, by tclem13 on Apr 10, 2007 15:00:51 GMT 1, I knew it was too good to be true. The first "Morons" print received being in Singapore. But on the bright side, at least we know that they are sending out some of the prints sold that day. My guess is POW will send them out this Friday.
