Banksy Laugh Now Print, by BrotherBern on Apr 6, 2013 13:17:11 GMT 1, Folks. I have just spent a morning with an artist who also owns a gallery and he is selling a Laugh Now, which is a gift print, therefore has no number or COA. The history is pukka. My questions are....
Will I be able to get a COA?
What should I be paying?
PS, I don't want to sell it, just enjoy it

PS, I don't want to sell it, just enjoy it If the artist is the original recipient then there is a chance that a COA would be issued but they would have to apply personally, not you. If he is not the original recipient, I'd say there's a slim chance of it being authenticated. Price depends on whether it gets authenticated or not. If it does, the owner should expect the going rate for a print from the signed and numbered edition. If not, however much a buyer is prepared to pay.

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by dotdot on Apr 6, 2013 18:16:40 GMT 1, Cheers soho, is £1k a deal for it? Dude, you need a coa.
no number means something close to curtains.
A gift is a gift to the recipient , that's all. If that recipient contacted pc for a coa then perhaps they'd get one but I doubt it as its not part of any print run - its a gift.
Anyone here seen a coa for a gifty print ? If they're normal then I don't mind standing corrected.
pa care to comment ?

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by BrotherBern on Apr 6, 2013 18:19:21 GMT 1, Craig, long time no speak. It came from a cafe on Stokes Croft, Bristol, (opposite 'Mild Mild West) where Robin used to go.
No number, no pow stamp, just a reliable source.
What should I be paying, for what is a posh poster without a COA?
Help!

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by craigf on Apr 6, 2013 18:20:41 GMT 1, I have known of a few gift prints getting coa but it has always been the original recipient who asked for the coa and often coa's aren't granted due to the nature of the print

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by Goooogle Male on Apr 6, 2013 18:21:43 GMT 1, bottom line for an un-numbered Banksy gift print with no COA is that it effectively has no re-sale value at all. You might believe the story you are being told about the gift print if you trust and know the seller very well, but who's going to believe your version of it 2-3 (or whatever) years down the line? Ultimately with banksy, the only 'real' ones are those with (or eligible for) a COA.
Get a 'real' edition one with COA. That way you have 100% peace of mind. Otherwise save yourself £950 and get a WestCountryPrince version as that's realistically no different to a so called 'real gift print'

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by mouser on May 23, 2013 18:41:18 GMT 1, The rest of the story has a possible ring of truth to it, but as quinnster said, the dates dont add up by a couple of years for laugh now. The backdoor prints wouldnt be marked as APs as they were over prints in some cases used for promotional / sample stock, or as the name sugests, printed after hours on the same paper / same screens and slipped out the side door of the printers. There as a good few turf war un-numbered prints after being used to decorate a janes' addiction gig ( IIRC). Strange one, but certainly not worth a punt for anything near what folk are bidding at the moment, nothing other than an unverifiable tale to say it wasn't printed last week in a shed in shetland.....
