Faile โข Falling for Faile, Block Print , by hungry on Nov 28, 2017 1:30:59 GMT 1, WHY COULDN'T THEY STICK CLOSE TO THE OG PALETTE!
Imagery and design is still awesome for me. Color is alright, just doesn't stand out, and for something like this it would be SO good to stand out.
Think I'll still consider buying it, though I'll need to find a pretty penny in my 2017 coffers...

Faile โข Falling for Faile, Block Print , by cjwhitey on Nov 28, 2017 13:20:24 GMT 1, Iโve been waiting to acquire a Faile piece for quite some time, and while I love this imagery, I sadly have to agree with most of the other forum members when I say that I donโt love the color palette. I also donโt love the price for an edition of 500, although I suppose thatโs what happens when artists become as notable as Faile. I guess Iโll just have to wait for some upcoming releases.

Don't know how long you've been collecting for, but Faile has always been "this expensive". It's actually not even expensive for their works, and that's taking into consideration the 500 run. You should really look into their past works to see what I'm talking about. Albeit much smaller editions, much more expensive. Besides the 150 series, this is almost as "cheap" as Faile comes.

I believe Faile's prices to be spot on with the market. The printing is beyond comparison and others printing capabilities ( with few exceptions GP, MBW, pace etcand it's a 25 color screen print not a giclee. The feel smell and look of these are amazing to see touch and smell. So funny. How do you feel about the ยฃ500 price which was $712 for banksys 2 color silkscreen of sale ends today edition of 500 print?

How do you feel about the ยฃ500 price which was $712 for banksys 2 color silkscreen of sale ends today edition of 500 print? I won't comment on whether the pricing is fair or not. But I think the clear difference between Banksy and Faile is Banksy pieces go for way more than 500 pounds. Faile pieces don't really go up too much these days. I buy what I like regardless of edition size, but I can understand how some may take a step back here.
Still, it's a large print and for that size they tend to cost around that price....the edition is huge though but at least it means more people will have a shot at it instead of other releases that sell out in 0.0004 seconds.
In an age where no name artists are charging quite a bit of money for giclees I guess I can understand the pricing on this one.

Faile โข Falling for Faile, Block Print , by GMA on Nov 28, 2017 15:10:08 GMT 1, I find this one grows on me the more I see it and I don't have an issue with the blue and brown, I find the colour choice unusual, but in a good way and I think it works fine. But I've given myself an art buy ban until the new year, so it's a no from me.

The feel smell and look of these are amazing to see touch and smell. So funny. How do you feel about the ยฃ500 price which was $712 for banksys 2 color silkscreen of sale ends today edition of 500 print? You can't compare artist's prices, simple as that!
You can only really compare artist's own works to their own works, and even then, they can charge, change, and essentially do whatever they want. Hell, look at the most recent Pejac release. His prices went up by roughly 335%, from his last print (Wound) with the same edition size, in only a year! I don't know if you want to debate the stone litho technique used vs screenprint, but I doubt it "cost" that much more to produce. Are all his prints now going to start at that price point? Who knows.
With regards to Faile, Sweet Sins (2015), Les Ballets de Faile (2013), and Surgere Supra Bestias (2013) are the exact same as this new one in terms of execution, size, price and run. So in almost five years, they haven't charged more for a print.
If you go back to 2011, you see them doing lower runs on these block prints like, Brooklyn Bedtime Stories (2011), which cost $785 and was a run of only 125 prints, and Fashion Chimps (2011), which cost $800 but had a 300 print run.
Faille are damn near legends in this urban art world, and are giving everyone a little bit of something, at pretty affordable prices. Buy if you like it and don't buy it if you don't; it's that simple! To debate the price/run, is it "worth it" scenario, especially without doing a bit of homework, is just a tad silly IMO.

I agree with everything you said, and I should clarify that I meant this print is a little pricey for me at the moment - not in general.
I am aware of the historical Faile prices ($500 for the most recent runs of block prints and more expensive limited runs prior) and I'm aware of their notoriety - I visited their exhibit at Brooklyn Museum back in 2015 and instantly fell in love with their works.
I recently purchased several high-layer screenprints (POSE "Doll" and Mr. Jago "Cenote") and I would gladly pay the $500 for a print like the new Faile, but I don't like the colors. I should have just stuck with that excuse.
I believe Faile's prices to be spot on with the market.

Faile โข Falling for Faile, Block Print , by hungry on Nov 29, 2017 0:02:57 GMT 1, Do Faile ever revisit works from time to time and release new variants? Curious if they would ever release this screenprint in a different colorway in the future..

Not counting originals, these days its pretty rare.
The 'size of the fight' Detroit show print had two variants.
Prior to that there is the Dogs, bunny boys and girls, F-Heads, mermaids, Maos, surfer horses, challengers, strange encounters, butterfly girls, forbidden loves, sinful pleasures, smoking silences, prince charles, monsters, savage worlds, happens every day, prospectors, poison boys, couldnt fight temptation, faile Mary, ganeshas, heartbreak in Brooklyn, happy home, bad seeds, shanghai vanity, stories of love, dreams, in trembling whispers, this is faile.
Those are all small runs prior to 2010. These larger runs don't get revisited like those images did.
The DET Failing for Faile block painting that was in Detroit was a winner.
I'll be buying tomorrow.

Faile โข Falling for Faile, Block Print , by sixsense on Nov 29, 2017 3:50:17 GMT 1, I see many of you are so frustrated with the brown. I actually will see it as bronze or gold. I'm a graphic designer, I'm always dealing with client who request bronze or gold colour when you can't use Pantone Gold/Bronze or hot stamping.
I agree it would look nice in flesh and perfect in a wooden or antique frame

Faile โข Falling for Faile, Block Print , by Art Fan 2011 on Nov 29, 2017 11:56:59 GMT 1, I think this one will look better in person. Big edition and high (ish) price tag, lots of releases of late so hoping this will be straightforward enough to grab. I am on the fence still, but I think I will regret it if I don`t go for it
