Do you know what he is about? I know he does trainers and quite a bit of other stuff and to me seems like he is really good at Marketing his brand

I don't see it as happyshopper does especially if you are a Kaws fan. My reasoning is that the biggest complaint I hear is about flipping, rarely anything about quality, composition, material used etc...... always flipping.
I see what Kaws did as a great way to address flipping. Put a limited edition piece out, don't say how many but release enough that ensures your true fans get a piece and leave all the others who were just going to flip it with their d$&* in their hands asking WTF just happened. Kudos to Kaws and I am stoked I got my first Kaws, with over 7 billion people in this world I still consider it limited, maybe I'm an optimist though.

It probably needs a bit of that to get to the position heโs reached. How many humble multimillionaire business people are there? I think he has lost touch with the reality of life for most people, for example at the Yorkshire event he made a casual remark along the lines of a couple of hundred dollars being nothing. That stuck in my mind as I imagine for many people thatโs a lot of money.

True that mate. This is definately an issue I agree with and people are right to complain about it.
However, we don't know how many, so it's just speculation really.
If the edition is 100k or plus or similar to the OE, it is definately misleading. I don't think it's actually legal to call it a limited edition if those numbers are that high (in an art/collectible setting).

People are dropping 10k on Koons from editions of 2300 (20k for the older ones).
Not defending kaws as I hoped as well to have a smaller edition size myself and feel that if the number is too high it's actually a rather misleading premise.

I find the latest Ron English vinyl very similar, new releases selling out in seconds and reselling at crazy prices.

Looks like some people had the problem that the head came of. I stated in a previous post that Kaws doesn't deserve the hate, but I'm starting to change my opinion. Looks like a really messed up release.

He responded to someone on IG and instead of just basically giving some type of customer service answer, he ended up just defending Medicom. |
