oh yeah, i know, i was just letting him know that they are selling on the bay as he said he'd still had no offers. you can only give people a deal for so long before the bank manager comes knocking!

Banksy Applause Print, by tommcjay on Mar 2, 2007 13:55:44 GMT 1, dude - buy the print if you like it! All Banksy's are a bit dodgy in terms of whether they are a good long terms investment. Look at it this way if the prices go downand you are left with a print that you don't even like to look at you will be doubly pissed off!

Banksy Applause Print, by Tyler Durden on Mar 2, 2007 16:08:36 GMT 1, Forgetting that signed ones on the bay are out of my price range, to my knowledge Flags was a run of 1000 and there were no signed ones. Not sure if this will make them worth more in years to come, hence my curiousity.

Banksy Applause Print, by tomhills1 on Mar 2, 2007 19:03:28 GMT 1, i think flags will always be popular because it is so good to look at. it won't go up much because as there are 1000 of them they should be easier to come by. as time goes on, more will end up with people who are going to hang on to them.
so when the supply slows down i'm sure there will still be a demand so you shouldn't lose any money on it. i actually love it even more for the fact none are signed, less elitism in my book, number 23 is equal to 923. i've got a grin reaper too which is obviously signed, but i justify that by the fact i couldn't buy an unsigned one even though i wanted to.
buy un-signed for yourself and your walls and signed for the investment potential. if you stand more than three foot away from a print on the wall you can't see the signature anyway!

1000 is really not that different than the early runs of 750. Couple that with the quality of the image I think it one of his best prints period. Agree that you should buy only signed if it is for investment purposes. However.... buy art that you like - if you want investments buy stocks or real estate.
I think unsigned are topping out in price and won't get that much higher. I think the highest they will ever attain will be around 2K GBP. With signed though, the skies the limit!

Banksy Applause Print, by corblimeylimey on Mar 2, 2007 19:39:31 GMT 1, I'm looking forward to getting my Flag print framed, but I can see it waiting for a few months yet as other more important commitments are coming up.
I wonder how many of the Flag prints haven't been handled as they should have been according to the instructions given out with them? what with fingerprints etc I can see there being much fewer 100% mint ones kicking about as time goes on. I bought some cotton gloves specially for this print so I could get it out of the tube and into the portfolio.

Agree corblimeylimey - that paper is extremely sensitive. Bet a lot of people left in tubes (which increases the likelihood of rippling) or weren't careful in handling them. You simply shouldn't touch that print without gloves.

I sold an unsigned for 2k a few months back and Rude copper always breaks that mark. Hard one to call, some will continue to rise, others not. Rude Copper & Laugh Now certainly will.

I think it is a bit of a classic and nicely printed - A very strong piece of art for a very reasonable price, can't do better than that really!
