Finally Fucked!, by Friendly Ghost on Jun 26, 2007 3:08:21 GMT 1, As someone who's worked with NGOs for about 15 years now, a 6 month delay in expected revenue could potentially be a nightmare.
Beejoir, is the Mercy Centre stable enough that this freeze by paypal isn't going to cause a crisis there? They look pretty sizeable, so I'm hoping they can weather the delay.
But if they're at risk of cashflow problems because of paypal's actions (inactions), maybe we ought to try to mobilize a little effort to raise funds... I'd be willing to forgo the next print that I'm tempted to buy, and I'd think that at least some other folks would be too...
Edit: I read this and it sounds like it's intended to somehow be a guilt trip, like when they ask at the market checkout if you'd like to give to some random cause--making you have to say no and feel like a greedy bastard for refusing. I don't mean to come across that way (sorry if I have).
2nd edit: well... Ok... maybe not forgo a print. I'm a newcomer addict... But maybe just give in addition to getting that next print.

Looks like Google Check out is up and running now, I'll get Kate to send an invoice out to you all today.

Finally paypal have kicked us in the balls...... ******************************************************
Dear SouledOutStudios,
After reviewing your PayPal account, we have determined there to be excessive risk involved and we would like to begin parting ways in a manner that is least disruptive to your business.
If your PayPal account balance is zero, and you have no outstanding issues, such as unresolved Buyer Complaints or chargebacks, your account will remain limited.
If there are funds in your account, the remaining account balance will be held for a period of 180 days in order to minimise chargeback risks. Any Buyer Complaints or chargebacks received against your account during this time will be paid from your account balance. Once the 180-day period has elapsed, you may either withdraw to a bank account that is registered on your PayPal account, or request a wire transfer for a fee of 40.00 USD.
****************************************************** So paypal will hold all of our money for 6 months, I have no idea why we have been branded ''an excessive risk'' but its a real Bastards.
Wait a minute did they say.....''we would like to begin parting ways in a manner that is least disruptive to your business.'' wow

I've been in correspondence with Jon and offered to help.
A friend is Head of Merchant Services Paypal worldwide. I am sure he could have solved this before it hit rock bottom.
The offer is still open.
Hope you guys aren't having sleepless nights. My LV 's have just arrived.

It really makes you think twice (again) about using them, but when a main avenue for my business is ebay I'm kind of screwed... Did you look any further into Google checkout?

Finally Fucked!, by michaelscott on Jun 26, 2007 10:09:32 GMT 1, We have all seen the effects of this forum...from "creating" artists, to 100's of prints selling out in minutes. personally I feel like it's time to "walk the talk". If each member here, who has praised SouledOutStudios, and Beejoir, etc makes a complaint in a civil manner to PayPal....I bet we would see a resolution to this totaly fucted situation...and much sooner than 180 days.
Now, we all know how frustrating it is, dealing with "on-line" businesses, and the electronic form letters. But thanks to those who got screwed before us(myself included....5 years ago, PayPal drained my personal checking acct...) there is www.paypalsucks.com
there is an updated listing of REAL telephone num, bers, fax numbers, and addresses...boith in the US, and UK. go there:
paypalsucks.com/faqs.shtml
and take a few extra minutes, to educate yourself, about this monster.
this couldn't happen to a group of better people than this....

Finally Fucked!, by Yessir on Jun 26, 2007 15:58:42 GMT 1, I don't get Paypal. A person or persons starts up a business, they decide to open a business account with Paypal. The business is a success, consistently amassing large amounts of monies.
Paypal decides this is a "RISK"( in what way I have no idea ) and decides to severe ties with the successful business.
Maybe its me, but surely its more beneficial to Paypal, to have more successful businesses than unsuccessful businesses on their books.
Heres is a question for Paypal would they take the same course of action, with a struggling unsuccessful business, which was yielding limited sums of money?

What makes this even worse is that a lot of that money is earmarked for charity too.
I really feel for you, the charity and SOS.

I hate paypal, and ebay for that matter.....but unfortunately they are a neccessary evil for business purposes for me. If there was a real and viable rival site and payment system then I and many others I suspect would be off like a shot.
