I guess people see it as semi authorised as the piece was gifted to the museum by Banksy. The museum might have asked permission to publish out of courtesy but essentially wouldn't need toas it's a piece from their private collection. All the fivers spent are helping support the museum so they'll be delighted. It's a lovely old museum. Im not sure if it was ever confirmed that the petrol bomb was POW nor Monkey Parliament. Although POW employees helped at the Petrol Bomb sale. Not sure either that just because the museum owns the piece that they can reproduce the image for profit? By that logic, anyone with an original could make print versions themselves. Unless there’s an agreement in place. Agree though that it’s great the museum will do well out of this.
Owners of an original are NOT allowed to reproduce the image, museums included.
Copyright always remains with the artist or photographer. Unless otherwise agreed.

This is just a nice poster and for a fiver it is worth it especially seeing as the money is going back into the museum. I just think people shouldn’t complain about print quality for this price. Let’s face it, bravo to Banksy. He would of 100% given the go ahead on these and what a great way to raise some cash easily for the museum, win win for everyone.

I believe Banksy iterated before he would never go after someone for using or copyrighting his work. |

I purchased (£5) at the museum directly a couple of months back Carl along with a greeting card of the same image.
They may well have re done them with a white background judging by the image on the website..
