Bristol Museum • Paint Pot Angel Poster • WITHDRAWN , by Coach on Jan 16, 2018 17:09:54 GMT 1, My apologies. I read it as a serious title, and didn’t realise it was in jest. As such I was genuinely interested why you held that opinion. I guess I’m so used to seeing such statements meant without any hint of jest on here these days. Valid point, true that there are too many fighting and squabbles on here... the tone needs to change. Even banksy makes serious art via a whimsical and lighthearted approach!
I think it’s also fair to say that I am becoming a grumpy old t**t with no effective memory these days. Definitely an age thing.

Bristol Museum • Paint Pot Angel Poster • WITHDRAWN , by Lroy on Jan 16, 2018 17:21:00 GMT 1, It is funny. Wasn't he a promoter of free art somehow? Wasnt stealing art a cool thing to do? Wasn't he the one saying that people could use is art without any kind restriction? How come now he halts the selling? He could have just stated that it is not an official piece. That's all. He should not talk about authorizations.. this is just supposition anyway. Or Banksy could close all poundland and tats shops with keyrings etc ..

While true this won’t stop people for buying them from the flippers. A shame really that people buy in so easily.

Bristol Museum • Paint Pot Angel Poster • WITHDRAWN , by Inknart on Jan 16, 2018 17:41:15 GMT 1, How does Medicom get away with selling actual figures that do nothing but profit a company and something like this that goes to a good cause gets shut down? Makes little to no sense. Was the museum just scared Banksy would take legal action or do you think he actually reached out and told them to halt production? It seems to go against the nature of Banksy in a way to have me believe something that went to a good cause would be stopped.

Bristol Museum • Paint Pot Angel Poster • WITHDRAWN , by tab1 on Jan 16, 2018 17:45:22 GMT 1, Kind of weird stops the museum that helped with exposure and are only £5 but let’s wcp keep on printing at £45-£60? Because Banksy has approved WCP ( since 5 years and more he could stopped it at the first minutes ). WCP is ( for me ) a good guy anyway and proposes good prints too .
Scramble to buy wcp then

Let's wait and see.
My suspicion is that either Pest Control questioned what they were doing, or they realised that shipping 1000 small prints flat, for just a few quid, was not going to work out well for anyone.

Whatever happened it’s the downside of being a fan of Banksy, as the endless secrecy on one hand is a bit of fun but on the other is pretty tiresome.

Bristol Museum • Paint Pot Angel Poster • WITHDRAWN , by choca69 on Jan 16, 2018 18:31:21 GMT 1, Official reply from Bristol Museum that I have just received:
"Hello,
This was a mistake on our part. We own the art work in question and had been granted permission to produce the image in our Guide to the Art gallery published last Autumn. It was assumed that this would allow us to produce prints however, having contacted Banksy's management we were told that this was not the case. As a result we have taken the decision to withdraw all products of the Paint pot angel image from sale and offered full refunds to customers affected. We have apologised to Banksy and would like to offer our apologies to any customers who felt misled by this sale.
Many thanks
The retail team
