That said, I I find it more concerning that there is a group of folks copying and putting up fake invaders. Why? What can you possibly gain from this other than taking away from the value of the original artist. Both are plain wrong.
I've got a nice long white chimney running in the middle of the front of my house, was thinking about doing a fun Invader myself to help spruce up my boring lil cornbread suburbia street. Don't think there's any harm in that. If Invader reads this and wants to come over and do it himself to 'keep things real', have him shoot me a PM

While I don't completely agree with the "reactivations" and people putting up fakes, it should have no impact on "the market for actual street pieces" because there shouldn't be one. Having an active market for STOLEN street art has absolutely no upside in my opinion.

Of course, it’s an integral part of the street art thing.
However that does not mean that you should welcome and applaud people ripping stuff off the street to make a quick buck.
Moreover in the case of Invader’s work there is a very strong chance that you are not even buying the actual street piece which will have been destroyed in the removal or maybe even reactivated

On my side I would prefer spend the money, have your adress name etc authentificate it as a fake and then take the legal way.
And also I don’t really understand how a forum tolerate stolen pieces.
