Yes, a private sale is any sale that is not conducted in public like an auction. The quoting price is not the same as the final sale price and in my eyes this should remain private unless both parties agree otherwise. Certainly if the vendor was a gallery or business disclosing the price in public would more than likely breach GPDR and other privacy laws.
If you don't want to publish the price, then that's fair enough but would agree with the post that says it does help other potential sellers of the same print. Sticking it out there in big pink letters is imo a little pretentious. I messaged someone who sold another print recently regarding the sale, as I had the same print I was thinking of selling....they just didn't bother replying to me. Which is fair enough. i respect their privacy.

Currently it is also fairly difficult to value but at auction, my opinion is it would probably make ยฃ40-45k all up which is a hammer price of ยฃ30-34k. In a private sale I would ยฃ35-40k is a fair target. The market is unlikely to see it return to its peak of ยฃ50k for a at east 12-18months.
Consigning it to a friendly gallery would see it marketed at ยฃ50k or so which maybe the best route to realise the most in a controlled way.

I think friend will go gallery consignment route (i've spoken to a couple for her) but will hold on until next year when hopefully market bounces back up closer to the silliness of last year |
