Banksy Grannies Print, by senna on Oct 28, 2006 0:05:24 GMT 1, i really must agree with notitle!!!!!!
i'm finding it harder & harder to listen to people having a problem with people selling stuff on ebay etc
most people here have done & are doing so right now.
i probably have the same story as many others; buy some to put up & some to sell to fuel the addiction.
POW seem to be on it now so round of APPLAUSE for them all!!

Banksy Grannies Print, by wanksy on Oct 28, 2006 8:24:38 GMT 1, Ebay is part of the Banksy story. It is ebay that has fuelled the secondary market and made early 50 quid prints worth thousands. Without ebay "true" fans would have NO CHANCE of buying prints they really want.
I have my home page set to POW and sit there refreshing whilst I am on the phone at work, I almost had a coronary when the grannies came up, I fell down the stairs running to get my credit card but was rewarded with a grannies print. I think that most people who got the prints yesterday have more than a passing interest in Banksy. The few that are selling for a quick profit are all part of what is going on as are the faceless bank mangers, lawyers and accountants.
To try and control the market is slightly missing the point.

Banksy Grannies Print, by spence on Oct 28, 2006 8:36:46 GMT 1, What you should be asking yourself is , "Why should POW let out these prints at an affordable cost, just to let some tosser put it up 5minutes later on ebay" for prices like this.
cgi.ebay.co.uk/Banksy-Grannies-limited-edition_W0QQitemZ110049082145QQihZ001QQcategoryZ360QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Are POW mad or something? they must be....
Without POW these tossers wouldn't be able to take the piss. Respect them before they take the piss out of us. You will all be moaning then !!!!!!!
The piss takers will then have to get off their fat arse's and go back to their ticket toating and selling fake DVD's.
These people all seem to be having a good old CHOMP at the hands that feed them........ I went to school and was taught the outcome.Looks like these people didn't listen or bunked off.

Banksy Grannies Print, by lesroy on Oct 28, 2006 10:13:54 GMT 1, Lets just face it... things will always be sold on eBay, and sought after art work is no different. As I have said before, I hate paying over the odds prices from eBay but if I want the print (or any otem for that matter) enough then I am thank ful for being able to get it.
Of course I'd prefer to buy everything from POW... from knowing it's genuine, being registered to my name, coming absolutley mint and getting a great smiley service from POW..... NOT TO MENTION THE PRICE!
I have just bought a "Love is in the Air" for ยฃ920... a snip in todays market but horrendous for a ยฃ40 POW print. But... atleast I own it and its one I always wanted and for that im glad I have eBay.
What I don't like is what you guys have pointed out.... selling a print that you have not already recieved just to bag the cash. I hope POW get hold of the numbers and then barr that person buying the next 5.

You beat me to that. Can't believe the person would pay that for it, especially when there are better and shorter print runs that are signed.
Mug comes to my thoughts. Looks like eBay will soon be inundated.

Banksy Grannies Print, by RetroCanvas on Oct 28, 2006 21:17:19 GMT 1, Do you think that POW care who's hands the prints fall in. I'm sure some of the members here know them personally enough to know. They are a business so they may think that 'as long as they get their money to keep going' they're happy.
I know my statement is pretty harsh, but business is business.
We all like to think that the majority of the prints go to propper fans that like it as art but come on, the ease of making some money by selling a Banksy would be stupid to turn down in most peoples circumstances.
Don't think POW can do anything unless they start selling the prints for their current value like Lazinc, and I don't think they're going to do that.
I think its a case for them to just sit back and be happy that they are helping a fair few people make some extra cash as the buyers that spend in their thousands can obviously afford it.
THE END

Banksy Grannies Print, by RetroCanvas on Oct 28, 2006 22:07:04 GMT 1, Thats cool, I would imagine that they are trying hard to avoid the 'scalpers'. It must be hard for them. I have not met any of them but ssume that they are just as passionate about there work as they were before the big Hype. Fair play to them, sounds like they work hard.
Will be interesting to see more of the plans come to life as regards to the buying of 'in-demand' limited prints.

Can I have a ringside seat for the day you make an appointment to go in to POW and explain that to Steff? Anyone who recently met Steff might have heard her say they were doing as much as they reasonably could to prevent that sort of touting and to maximise the chances of the frames being sold to appreciative buyers (i hate to use the word "fans") first

Banksy Grannies Print, by mido on Oct 28, 2006 23:52:23 GMT 1, POW do care that prints are mainly in the hands (and walls! the clue is in the title - pictures on walls....) of real fans, but I imagine that there is a point at which it is far too much hassle to get involved any further (e.g. keeping the database of original buyer is cool, but they don't update it and can you imagine the hassle if they did! there would then become an admin company rather than a screen printer / seller)

Banksy Grannies Print, by policeaware on Feb 18, 2007 11:50:46 GMT 1, Someone other than the seller had gained access to their ebay account & had modified an auction description to include an email address which was nothing to do with the seller.
Unwitting buyer uses email address to make an offer, sends payment and never receives item. The buyer then thinks the seller has taken their money when in fact it was the third party.
