Banksy Grannies Print, by seidbereit on Apr 2, 2008 18:30:45 GMT 1, Sarah from BRP (a trained art restorer) gave me the following tip for a creased blek I received from them but which they were unable to replace as no more replacements were in stock - in lieu of which they very kindly refunded me the full amount.
A very fine spray of water (distilled good but not essential) on the back of the print where it's creased - not until it's sopping wet or there are visible pearls of water on the surface - just a tiny amount. Then put blotting paper on the dampened bit and add LOTS of weight (books or the like) and leave it for a day. Then the next day repeat this and if necessary the next too until the crease is gone. She says you may sometimes have to repeat it 3, 4, 5 times before the mark is gone completely. The general rule is: little and often (and don't daub water onto the creases).
I'm on day 3 of what was a really nasty dent and it's working very well indeed. I reckon 2 or 3 more days and I'll have a perfect print.
PS - She also said NEVER use heat, and certainly not an iron - I told her about the suggestion I'd seen here somewhere about ironing the crease and she baulked at the thought!.
Failing this contact Sothebys.

Its a bit harsh to sell your Grannies, just cos they've got a few creases...my Granny is absolutely covered in them!
