Banksy Grannies Print, by lesroy on Oct 26, 2006 21:30:03 GMT 1, It's all about supply and demand... people like the work so they get a desire to buy/own it so they can look at it more often. The more they like it the more they will pay, the more other people like that work, the more in demand it becomes.... Then you make the item (can be any item in the world) limited edition so only a certain number can have it... those people will start to pay more to ensure they are one of the few...
You get me?
To most people on here it's not just a piece of paper... its an image that gives the owner an emotion... one worth paying for!
You may not understand, and that is cool...but a lady from Khazakstan probably wouldn't be moved to buy the new Bugatti Veyron either...
...it's horses for courses my son!

Banksy Grannies Print, by rolomonster on Oct 26, 2006 22:23:46 GMT 1, I have to ask what you guys are worried about? In my opinion this is the least desirable print out of all of them so far, it looks good as graffiti on a wall, but on a wall in a house? Bought my Mr Eggs print the other day for £30, why do you have to buy art as investment? If I were banksy I'd sell on POW under another name and see if the art really sold out or if it was just the hype of the name.

Banksy Grannies Print, by Ågent ßacardi on Oct 26, 2006 22:34:30 GMT 1, I wish POW would at least make unlimited prints out of the limited edition ones. Wouldn't that be a good idea? They make more money from fans who can't afford the limited edition ones, and it allows genuine fans who want Banksy on their walls to do so, without sacrificing themselves to scalpers like eBay like lambs to a slaughterhouse. And it'll teach them f**king scalpers a lesson too.
If you ask me, the prices are further driven up by the presence of scalpers. And there's nothing we can do about it. *sigh*

And I then have to answer that I am worried as it's the ONLY one I really wanted (bar Trolleys/Applause actually ending up being a bit more colourful) I think it would look excellent on the street too. As far as [glow=red,2,300]everyone[/glow] buying it just cos it says Banksy and as a pure investment for the most is bullshit...in my opinion.
Yes there are the scalpers and it's annoying there are now so many people buying for immediate resale. I think they should be banned from logging in here and the eBay forum as thats where they get their info from for the most part.

Yeah me too I'm thinking of getting the trolleys print, but there wont be any time to think when it comes up, either you buy it or not, in the end if I buy it then run into debt I might have to sell, if only banksy hadn't become famous I would never buy a print for investment if it wasn't signed, in the long term signed prints are the way to go if you plan making some real money.

I got interested in Banksy when you could buy his stuff for £30. I bought it cos i liked it and it was better than the crap you could buy in athena or ikea and it was different.
If he sold it under a different name i would probably buy it without knowing because of the idea and the image. That's the point!

Banksy Grannies Print, by HowAboutNo on Oct 26, 2006 22:54:57 GMT 1, i still can't believe there are two identical threads on this. anybody know the order for the release of the other 5 prints? i know trolleys is next. do you think it will follow the order of the pictures in the news section? the only other one i REALLY want is the morons print. (probably applause too)
Steph @ POW will do. But don't call her. She doesn't like people like you and you'll shit on it for the rest of us. If you KNOW that trolleys is next, then surely you KNOW the following sequence??
Thanks

Only problem I have basically is that:
A. No one except POW know this in essence B. It's all complete guess work and boring
So can we all just wait and see what happens, rather than filling the forum up with tat and guesses, thats all. Its my scrooge side coming out as since the LA furore its all got a tad boring I think.
Just me, but am sure I'm not alone.

Banksy Grannies Print, by notitle on Oct 27, 2006 1:28:44 GMT 1, extremely sorry about that old chap, maybe it was a stupid question, but just posting some general banksy chat in a general banksy chat forum. pretty easy to scroll on if you don't want to waste your time with it.
no worries though, forums are funny places and i also lash out from time to time.

Banksy Grannies Print, by Ågent ßacardi on Oct 27, 2006 1:41:45 GMT 1, yes we could then all have one on our walls - but would we want a "poster" that every man and his dog have? I think not... we want to have something that others dont have. Im starting to understand this art thing!! haha
Actually, I *would* want to have something that every man and his dog have, if I really liked it that much. Which pieces I fancy has absolutely nothing to do with 'who else has it?', and perhaps that's just me. I have the unlimited 'Soup Can' poster, and I love it to bits even though anyone can have one for £9.99 + postage. Knowing that Joe Schmoe next door has the original limited £4,000,000,000,000 one from LazInc doesn't make me love my cheap worthless print any less... after all, I'm into it purely for the art and the message, and even if I owned a piece that happened to appreciate in price, I would never sell it unless I need money for food or bail or alimony or something desperate like that.
Again, that's just me...

Banksy Grannies Print, by boris on Oct 27, 2006 9:47:59 GMT 1, Hey,
I reckon the next set of prints are going to sell out even faster. The Grannies took a lot of people by surprise - now people know that there on their way everyone is going to be checking the site religiously. Any one know if there going to have the same print run? Im guessing 650ish. (Bit of a dumb question now...)

Banksy Grannies Print, by monochrome on Oct 27, 2006 10:01:48 GMT 1, The easiest thing to do for POW is just put the next prints up and fuck the email notification. The email just sends 20000 people into mayhem mode.
They've told us they'll put them up 1 at time over the run up to xmas, so just let folk keep checking when they get a moment and avoid all the panic.
It's easy innit
