That could be true, but 1.500 $ for a giclee print of an unknown artist vs. for example 60 $ print (beside Edition size) from Obey is a big difference.
That kind of art procurement error didn`t happened to me.
Besides not knowing Roy Lichtenstein speaks for itself. In that case I would inform me instead spending that amount of money except I can afford it - in my case not.

Yes his work has always stunk, but he was calculated and connected with the right people - both his father and his brother got into music mgt so working the crowd like a snake in the blood. His first shows in NYC (maybe all his shows) were at the type of gallery you pay to exhibit at, and then selling out the shows part of the plan. Then he got some planted press and became a bit of the emperor’s new clothes.
If anything his path shows that planning and cold calculation can work, instead of just following your dreams in hopes of being discovered. Fake name, fake persona, THINK BIG. When there was a fake buzz about the deals with companies were easy to make because those gatekeepers are easily fooled.
Alec Monopoly has been ridiculed here since day one, in 10 years I’ve seen 2 or 3 people try to sell something, but otherwise NOTHING is ever posted about Alec Monopoly.
Because he is a fraud. And young, he will need a new career.

Based on the comments it seems like some collectors know exactly what to buy and not to buy to ensure it will sell later. No offense mates, but if that’s why you’re buying art you’ve missed the point. Regarding AM, I don’t connect with his work but to say it’s terrible, will never sell, etc is a personal opinion and simply untrue regarding selling as his work sells out all the time. If we are listing artist’s that have work that will never again sell for what it sold for on the primary market that list is very long so let’s not try to single out anyone in particular. I guess my point in all of this is while this is a forum to facilitate buying, selling discussing, etc with like minded folks I just don’t get why people feel the need to berate and borderline bully someone who is trying to sell something they don’t like. It’s just a bad look. Carry on and be safe
