A measure of commercial success would be when nobodies with cash no longer have a shot at buying the works, and the works are being reserved and sold to primo collectors at Art Basel and Frieze.

No doubt. Itโs always fun to watch though. Are people gravitating to an artist because of speculation or is there a long list of people waiting to buy because they actually love the art. I think most of the time itโs gonna be a little of both whether you like it or not.

I appreciate that the LA invader / trainer mob will be in the queue to grab and flip, but surely that would be a sensible thing to do..
They had some for queuers at the Paris show as lots of Brits travelled over, with this being such a long way away and the show being to build his US market with the originals i am assuming it will be a different crowd.

Approximate #s were given
Nice "thought" on releasing some at the show, but not 1 would go to a collector on primary market. Invader surprise prints caught a few off guard, but were still 50% minimum reseller grabs, and they'll get wind of better Margin.. sometimes you euro guys don't know how lucky you have it lol. There's a reason there are whole companies called "line guys" etc here that work by the hour.. a normal guy doesn't have 1-4 full days to camp out. The line would be there 2 days early if not worse
While it's not always fun, I truly think oli is one of very, very few artists right now handling himself well, limiting his market, letting himself grow while exploring and learning from others, etc...
I'm willing to wager he's here in 30 years.. and 90% of these other young artists won't be in 5 or 10..
And that's from a fan that's been asking for years, and still cannot score from the Heller show. I respect the idea and long term vision.
