Everyone else is expected to hype him up him with no chance of being alowed to purchase anything besides a print. Iβll keep my carpe Incase he takes off, but done and moved on to other younger talent. I just bought a Max Rumbol original for little over a Oli print. This forum put Oli on big time but I get the impression he couldnβt give a toss. Like I said friends in high places only. Donβt waste your time folks.
it has become very tough to nearly impossible to buy an og by oli, since his galleries decide who gets something. in a way understandable that they sell to long-time clients of the gallery instead of some 100 new gallery friends from uaa...learned that myself the hard way before all his recent shows (heller, duve, kostyal). I understand now you have to become a regular customer of the gallery in order to get a small chance of buying an epp sometime later. gotta play the game...I didn't do it, due to lack of funds and no will to brown-nose too much.
I wouldn't criticise Oli for his strategy of outsourcing all sales, he can now concentrate on painting, curating and organising plop residency (where some great new artists can be discovered) and a long-term strategy that also reflects his gallery pricing. I think it's applaudable that he tried to keep his price levels down for the first few shows, the galleries could have sold his paintings for much more - as we all can see with his secondary prices.
I would have loved to add another og from primary to our walls, but I think it will never happen...
Will have to be content with trying to get prints, but that's ok for me. if anyone will realise come friday the art police doesn't like the doener print, I am happy to take it for 1k gbp.

I'd love to get an OG from one of his recent shows (though fortunate to have a small piece from his pre-degree). I've been offered pieces by other collectors - pieces i've seen in Paris/LA and would love to own but unfortunately the prices are ridiculously high!
He's a genuinely nice guy, I like him and more importantly, I also like his art - big up to him for also giving other artists an opportunity via his Plop residencies. I'll be there on Thursday and planning to pick up this latest print - once chrimbo is out the way it'll be framed and on the wall alongside the others.
