I think the problem (if you are a potential buyer) with this is that galleries will ask silly money and if it doesn't sell it will sit there increasing in value. I can remember being offered at least two of these at £8k about 9 years ago

Yes some of banksys stuff is over hyped drivel with a lot better stuff from less known artists out there. But to say gwb is a 'fairy basic image' and not worth its place in the art world is foolish.

You would pay 5 pounds for the simple image so I'm assuming you won't pay more then 10 for the 'more skillful & interesting' works you see all the time right?

In spite of the AP variant colors being very rare, Red is still the only color I would ever personally want.

However I think you are wrong : put this on a stall for a cheap price and you will make a killing because it is the most easily likeable Banksy, one the whole family can love innit

I find it boring, weak in it's delivery of the message, and I place it at the bottom of my personnal list for Banksy's best. But then again I happen to think that Turf War is his best print, not only from the relevance and messaging, but although for the visual impact...so what do I know.

As for the price GWB fetches, who cares. If people are paying mucho pounds so be it, I couldn't care less !

Are we stooping down to the 'I could have done that' argument? On that same basis I could have painted a few soup cans, or knocked up a dove with more substance than Picasso. 

The originality of a piece, and its subsequent impact on an overall art form, are surely more important than the complexity of the art itself. It's not a political piece but it was done over ten years ago and is instantly recognisable as a Banksy work, and that is by a global audience, not just readers of forums such as this. I'd put it up there with Warhols soup can, Picasso's dove, for anyone of a certain age. 

As for the argument about the market stall? They sold originally for £60, that was their worth, then. If you buy it now however you aren't just paying for the paper, the idea and the print. You're surely paying the premium for the subsequent iconic impact of both that image, and that artist, over the least fifteen years. It's survived a decade, it's unlikely it/he will disappear now, and that also adds value/prestige/insurance. 

Apologies for semi rant (it's just a personal view) but when people keep going on about other works he's done being technically better it winds me up. Reminds me of when people always used to harp on about Betamax technically besting VHS! As someone else has said, it's worth whatever a buyer will pay. Surely it's not really anyone else's concern as long as the OP isn't taking the mick, and by asking for an price it's achieved previously I can't see that he is?
