Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Coach on Feb 12, 2016 15:34:29 GMT 1, You might. Or, you might think that Dismalland was a lot of fun for an awful lot of us, for next to nothing.
Coach I have no doubt there was some extremely hi costs involved in the putting together and running of Dismaland and that has to be recouped somewhere.
Also I agree that there was an opportunity given to us all for a Banksy curated show for next to nothing how ever that isn't my point.
My point is with regards the release of work which now seems to be a closed shop. I stand to be corrected but the last readily made available work to the public was CYW which was over 5 years ago. Evidently the business model has changed.
Fair enough. But in the meantime we have been gifted with BOTI, Dismalland, new street pieces, etc I'm just saying that I'm happy with that. Thanks Banksy.

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by tab1 on Feb 12, 2016 16:05:36 GMT 1, Are artist proofs supposed to be produced at the same time as the regular edition run? If produced 10 years after the original edition , is that not bad play ? Or even a few months after an edition has sold out. All artists can extend editions if a print is popular by labelling as an ap? If it was any other artist doing this , the discussion would be different . I would love any of the GWB AP's, but I feel if it were a different artist people would see things like this differently. I'm guessing we would here the same old comments, "cash grab" "greed", etc. I don't think that is the case, but defiantly think he is treated differently, probably deservedly
Not so much the cash grab element , years after a edition has sold out some people paid a high price on the secondary market for the original editions and original aps as for the exclusivity / rare / scarce print , adding more would reflect in lower pricings for the previous buyers as more on the market and the new prints in better condition as the originals were so cheap that most did not keep them in pristine condition?
All good, but like most things filters down from the top , as he's top of this scene can see others doing the same

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Black Apple Art on Feb 12, 2016 18:21:50 GMT 1, I have just found out the coa's are dated 2004 Laughable really. Regardless, IMO the microscopic quantities he now releases are unquantifiable compared to demand and what he could be doing. There's not another living artist anywhere close to his level of notoriety or demand that is exercising such restraint, not to mention giving back to such a degree with his exhibitions.

Remember how mental the CYW release was ? Imagine what it would be today !!
Also he could release blank pieces of paper, people would kill for them as long as it has COA...the image has nothing to do with it anymore, it's just the brand, so what is point of a putting out print
The shows keep on getting better, the outside art has people challenging their views and all of us writing pages on here...honestly no point in releasing a print to the public.
Also a lot of his prints look quite crap so it's good that he stopped. He was no good at it to start off with

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by curiousgeorge on Feb 13, 2016 1:47:52 GMT 1, My understanding is gold, pink, purple and red artist's proofs were produced each as an edition of 22, so, 88 in all, priced at £35k + VAT, all included COA's. I think they were printed and available before and during the Dismaland show to VIP's only. Anyone please correct me if i'm wrong. £3,080,000 from a 88 run print drop. Fair play! Keep it Real, indeed. Not forgetting to minus full production costs
Then ploughing 2? million into Dismaland? Keeping it very real indeed..
Funny reading this and noticing that the owners are mostly swerving the thread. #ifyouknowyouknoworsomeothersuchbollocks…

Just remember that the aps were sold at a discount to their true market value (and below even the prices for some signed gwb originals) and sold to people pow could trust. It's hardly Banksy profiteering. And the money was ploughed into stuff we could enjoy at subsidised rates. I'm pretty supportive of Banksy doing that. Nbg release was fun but cyw felt almost like a disaster. U could tell Banksy has been going off print releases for a while so it's clear that the strategy has changed.
Great at ap pics btw, although anyone offering all of them for sale I think is probably bigging themselves up a little...!
