You should be able to do this with no problem at all.... I agree, the frame is very weak...

I know you don't like the lenticular Frankie, but I've got one hanging in my narrow hallway and due to its position you get the full effect every time you walk past it. I honestly can't think of another piece that would work better than a lenticular in that place (providing you like the images it's made up from). Just about everyone who visits comments positively about it. You may think it's a gimmick, but in the right spot it's perfect.
