Harland Miller โข Tonight we make history , by Express Post on Jun 12, 2018 21:09:31 GMT 1, I think he means currently for a print bigger than your hand. You'd have to go back in time, where the world was a different place. A time before the world had such problems such as Lil Tay, 6ix9ine, Woah Vicky, Influencers, Mumble rap, and Smashed Avo on toast.
For the Hate's Outta Date release, it isn't a rich man's game...it is a camping man's game.

It's a different scenario if one is open to purchasing work by emerging artists โ or those who are simply less fashionable, and therefore less sought-after.

I'll indulge in splitting hairs:
The placement of the "p.s." by both Manifold Editions (in its print release description) and Blain|Southern Berlin (in its 2016 show title) has the advantage of making grammatical sense.
Harland Miller's placement (on his original canvas and print) does have a logic to it, but it's strictly a compositional one.

There is so much good art out there at very reasonable prices. Collect what moves you and keep a level head on your finances.

Annoying on one hand , rather the artist / print house got the money rather than poster bob ๐ No that's just how things are priced when you work with a proper print publisher Agreed. To give some sense of perspective to forumites, David Hockney's latest series of iPad prints were released at four galleries around the world, all at the same price of $20,000 each plus import duty from USA. There were twenty or so prints, each with a run of 25.

How he comes up with these side splitting jokes is beyond me. I agree, the image looks like a shopping bag abit of silver and yellow paint on a panel with a simple penguin logo and lettra set lettring.
A gimmicky slogan and it's decorative enough in it's own way but how many people would get bored seeing that slogan on their wall and the novelty factor wearing off very quickly.
Just like Shrigley etc anyone and their dog can come up with lots of simple slogans and selling them as fine art to a pretentious investment clique who persuade themselves the art is high brow or special simply because a gallery has pushed up the retail prices by some clever sales pitch probably someting like Warhol warhol warhol warhol elvis elvis elvis Miller Miller Miller miller.

His art invokes an emotion, and one I quite like What do you love about art the you buy? I've seen aesthetically stunning advertising on a van.
For me Miller and Shrigley etc is more annoying than witty, it's like the guy with a comb over at a party or annoying kid who comes up with a funny line and gets some sympathetic laughs from people and does it again and again and again believing they are clever because someone showed them some form of acceptance.
The way I see it is that Shrigley and Miller are churning out this stuff as long as the galleries are selling it to people with money before the novelty and fashion wears off.
If you see a slab of silver paint bordered with yellow and some lettering as aesthetically stunning I do agree that as a color scheme and decorative image it is pleasing to the eye.
I'm not sure about any emotion from this image apart from it comes across as pretentious faux wit.
I understand the that someone pays 20K for a print purely for investment. As I doubt you would be prepared to pay a fraction of 20K for a similar art which is just as aesthetically stunning (yourwords) with an equally witty slogan done in lettra set by any other artist.
I don't choose my art, the art I buy chooses me.

In the end, it always comes back to the same thing: buy what you like, and don't buy what you don't like!

Harland Miller โข Tonight we make history , by moron on Jun 13, 2018 16:36:24 GMT 1, I think Miller wrote some books and when he was poor and starving in Paris he spent time painting penguin book covers. Maybe he wrote books about penguins?
A few other artists did penguin etc book cover parodies and some before miller from what I gather.
I don't blame people with money buying into investing in art print releases by todays relatively young bucks and buckesses ? It requires very little effort and it can be more lucrative than say investing 20K in a shabby fixer upper house in some run down crime ridden neighbourhood, it's easy to store and the potential for selling at a profit is plausible as long a sbuyers are on the ball.

To give some sense of perspective to forumites, David Hockney's latest series of iPad prints were released at four galleries around the world, all at the same price of $20,000 each plus import duty from USA. There were twenty or so prints, each with a run of 25. Where were the new Hockney prints released? Pace Gallery New York Anely Juda London Galerie Lelong Paris L.A. Louver Gallery
