I still need to get used to this new body of work though! While it is interesting to look at, i found the techniques of his previous show much more interesting. I also feel like he had spent so many years perfecting the former technique that there would have been room for one more killer show, before heading onto something so different. It feels a bit abrupt or something. On the other hand I can imagine it must be quite daunting for an artist to venture down new roads, so all in all credit to him for having the guts to do what he's doing! I think i just need to get used to this new style, and while it is not clicking yet i am looking forward to seeing more of it and seeing where he takes it!

As an aside.we all speak to artists maintaining a style but we decry when they stay too long. Is he truly done with the magic of his last show? I would say no.
Are these pieces also incredible in a different way? yes. As for Neate....I think Neate is primitive to him. i see how one could bring it up but its like comparing the african masks that influenced 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon.'
