It improves the value of the image, not dilute it in any way.
When selecting a picture for a print edition, the artist has picked something that they want to put out there, so they are going to put their best foot forward.
It is also a promotion of that particular piece making it better known.

I'm a huge fan tbh, been waiting for a print for years - I've seen that image 100 times, but until I saw this thread I never looked at it critically and the neck just jarred with me...... probably trying to talk myself out of buying it if I'm being totally honest. I'm under a strict art embargo at home, which I've already broken twice so probably a good thing. |

One thing for sure is that this place divides people when it comes to many things. I love the image (I would have been a fool to buy it if I didnโt) and itโs probably one of my favourite pieces in my collection.
I was approached by the guys at Unit around the potential print and this was selected by them and Ryan. Replicating any original will always be tricky and to capture this in a print probably harder than most - however I know itโs a popular image (to most ๐) and I hope falls into the right hands of fans/collectors who havenโt been able in one way, shape or form to get a piece by him.
Either way I live with it everyday and I love it so I guess that the main point (even the GF loves it so you wonโt ever see a for sale thread as partner doesnโt like anymore ๐๐)

I think most owners of an original that is turned into a print would be chuffed. Itโs quite an honour to own the original.
That said, whilst I donโt believe there is an obligation to do so, I think itโs good manners of the artist or someone on his behalf, to contact the owner and notify them. My son is about to release his second print. We did just that.
