He couldn't shift his stuff in the building so the building owners had no right to demolish their building. It's China FFS , he could have easily had the whole contents of his studio moved out in a day or a week. he had plenty of time to plan things and probably another one of his self serving publicity seeking stunts. Either squat the building to gain support from naive westerners or something similar.
He ain't hard up and he ain't hard done by. I walked past him in the street a few months ago, he's a little fat bloke and looked at me funny but he didn't know who I am.
