Agree with Love, prices will drop and drop again - the recession might be technically over but the credit crunch is here to stay - it will get worse before it gets better.

I brought the Banksy art I own except the Nola (brought from source), back in 03 for ยฃ150 or less because I liked it, not for an investment... A couple of years ago, I sold a piece for 9k ok I flipped :-) I personally obviously liked the massive Banksy hike, but made me look at my collection in a different way (money) kind off took the shine off and worried about it... does that sound stupid? But I can hand on heart say I've never brought a piece to sell, I buy because I liked them at the time, but taste change hence me selling my Nick walker, mercy appeal and rene (shameless plug :-)) I personally which sounds stupid started to dislike anything I owned being worth alot of money, it changes your view of the actual art, Its art, I've still got a Happy Chopper and Monkey queen in clip frames (ones smashed) at work, I'll post some pics :-)

Id have to lean more towards chance then conspiracy. Unless of course you are one of those Glenn Beck/Tea Party types.
