Banksy โข Donkey Documents wall from Palestine, by Cookiemonster on Aug 22, 2018 15:58:33 GMT 1, OK, what is the meaning of it? Lots of meanings to that one, its whatever the person sees or wants to see. Also if you know the history of the country you will see a lot more in it. You're the one who said it is iconic and "Yes i like Peace Dove, but I.M.O (lets say) Donkey Documents with Stop and Search have more of a meaning down there."
Let me ask you again but without being vague, what does this piece mean to you? As well as to those "down there"? and by those "down there" I presume you mean the Palestinians?

Can you not take a guess at the meaning of a donkey getting it's ID checked by a soldier in Palestine? Doesn't seem complicated to understand to me.

Let me "not" answer you again . Lets put it this way without being rude. I see what your trying to do, i might not be as educated as you on Banksy, but i'm married into a Muslim family and i know a lot more about down there than you might think i know. The "i presume you mean the Palestinians bit", no i'm talking about everyone down there, both sides, but yes more so the Palestinian side.
Don't try take me for a dickhead, silly i might be, as anyone who knows me will tell you, a dickhead i am not

Thank you for your post Peter Bengtsen. Their not making a good job of selling it .
I would have thought a Banksy piece like this would sell quicker than 3 to 4 years.

Is it a Banksy piece, though?
No major auction house will touch pieces ripped from the street, in part because these will usually not get a certificate of authenticity from Pest Control. IF a certificate of authenticity were to be given for a removed street piece, it would confirm not only that the street work was originally by Banksy, but also that the removed object is still to be considered a work of art in its current form. From a market point of view this is important because site-specific artworks, which the donkey painting is a clear example of, are arguably ruined once removed, and so should no longer necessarily be considered a work of art by the initial creator.
Most collectors would be apprehensive about paying large sums of money for work that is not authenticated. Add to the above question about the object's questionable status as art the concern that the wall piece for sale could be an outright forgery.
In lieu of formal authentication, sellers will often provide other types of provenance, e.g. images of the removed piece at its original site, images/video of the removal process, documentation on the artist's website/social media of the work being created, etc. While such documentation may seem convincing, it does not remove concerns about the object's status as art created by a specific author (rather than simply a piece of wall with some paint on it). It also does not ensure that the object the buyer receives is not a forged copy of the original street work.
These are some of the reasons decontextualised street artworks tend to not fare well on the art market. Another reason, as stated by godโs ultimate noise, is that most people who are into this type of art believe that street artworks belong in the street where they were made.
Edit: I wrote a book chapter about this a few years back, which is freely available here.

Banksy โข Donkey Documents wall from Palestine, by bjoern on Aug 23, 2018 8:19:24 GMT 1, Yes the Stop and Search is behind glass in a shop run most of the time by two young boys, selling Banksy and Palestinian souvenirs There were two versions of Girl frisking soldier painted by Banksy (prefer to use the name Stop & Search for Stop & Search). The main difference were the rifle that was on different sides. I know & saw the one which is now surrounded by a gift shop... where was the other stolen one originally painted?

Banksy โข Donkey Documents wall from Palestine, by Deleted on Aug 23, 2018 18:43:57 GMT 1, More meaning in this than most apart from Stop and Search, and look where that one is now. Most people that go down there don't even know where it is, and never get to see it. Yes i like Peace Dove, but I.M.O (lets say) Donkey Documents with Stop and Search have more of a meaning down there. Don't get me wrong i love them all and hate to see any of them being taken from any part of the World OK, what is the meaning of it?
Can I have a go?
i like these games
I think (and I could very well be wrong) that the Israeli army view Palestinians as animals or vermin, though it can't really be vermin as its a Donkey or Mule, so I am now quite certain this is wrong
So looking again, its a picture of a soldier asking for id from a donkey or mule!!
Mary was on a mule or Donkey a few years back? does that have anything to do with it? The donkey Mary was on could just maybe be an ancestor of this Mule and the soldier is trying to ascertain this before making a fool of himself by bringing the donkey in for questioning
The soldier thinks the donkey may have a Palestinian hidden in its somewhere so needs to question the donkey?
(time now to cheat)
Is it as i have just googled a satirical view of how stringent israeli security is?
My reason was better (maybe)

Haha, imagine the shipping costs on getting the 'composite wall' transported. Also it says it was 'salvaged' from Bethlehem -- probably more like drilled / cut out of the building structure.
