Here we go... I've done plenty of research Matty, but I don't have my head up the artists culo like some... cough cough... Putting the faces of the youth doing mugging poses only encouraged the contractors to forego their lunch and smash the buildings into smithereens. If you think that somehow they were freed, then you are truly naive!
As a general rule I donโt put my head up peopleโs ass. It seems rude, not to mention quite uncomfortable, and I have quite a large head so it seems excessively hurtful for both parties.
I actually quite dislike JR as a person, but as an Artist I think over the last 2 years he has been putting up some the best outside work we have seen. I am quite excited at the prospect of this show and hope it lives up to its promise.
As for the rest, I donโt know if you are suggesting I thought these kids were literaly freed, or if their mugging faces somehow caused the building to be destroyed, and I reallyI have no idea what all this has to do with contractorโs skipping their lunch...

Hold Up won't be the big photographic print inside the box if that is your question. Loads of wrong information is being written on forums and blogs. However the editing of the box is not finished, and Hold Up could be still published on a A3 poster for example. We don't know yet at this stage. We are working everyday with JR to make the best box set possible. We want you to be fully satisfied so let me know if you have been mislead in any ways!

Well... I was the one writing hold up would be the print in the first place. Because they told me it would be, and hoped i could share the information. Lesson learnd. Sorry to you guys. I hope the box will be good.

It might be unsigned but from the description on the website, it'll be a photograph. My first language is french by the way, so I'm not 'google translating' this info! Given JR's medium is photography, I find it odd we've never seen a nice glossy pic being released. Something like a C-type print. We've seen some print releases (screenprints and lithographs) and plenty of projects involving paste-ups. I might be wrong as I am in no way a JR specialist but I can't recall photographs being released. I'm hoping it's going to be something on the same level of quality as the C-type photograph that was included with Liu Bolin's 'China, Dangerous Landscapes' book (รditions Bessard). But at this point, it's all speculation. All we know is we're going to get a box set which will contain a 1.9 m fresco (folded in 7 panels) and a 24 x 30 cm print (which from the description should be a photograph). As for the images, we're all taking a gamble. But at 55 Euros plus shipping, I find the stakes are pretty low and no matter what the images end up being, I can't see myself being too disappointed! |

Yeah, I wish I had bought the Liu Bolin Wombat box set too. Apparently the prints werenโt glossy but mat. I believe the book (and c-type print) that was released by Editions Bessard is still available if you donโt already have it. And the photo is signed. I recently had it framed...
