New BANKSY stall, by urbanflik on Nov 2, 2018 22:31:51 GMT 1, Am I missing something here? Banksy is about to hijack a trade show for the travel industry, in the months leading up to Brexit. I'm sure those paying good money to exhibit, perhaps in an effort to steer their way through unknown times ahead, are going to love the distraction. In the same way that corporations might not be pleased to have their advertisements disrupted by street artists? I have no issue with him putting the people of Palestine above the financial interests of travel companies, personally. I accept that the organisers may well disagree.
Many travel companies from around the globe rely on this event as the most important driver of business to their country, region, town, village, property, event, cause, charity etc there are family business as well as large scale corporates present at this show. This includes tourism boards promoting impoverished countries and cities as well as huge focus on sustainable and eco tourism. The travel industry is one of the single biggest global employers too.
I understand from a uneducated view travel may appear to be about profits and corporations but believe me itโs not for the vast majority.
This is a great stunt and will be great awareness for Palestine...but hopefully it will not cause too much disruption to the paying exhibitors or attendance and be an interesting side show for those not familiar.. As I said I think its very likely it may get extinguished due to health and safety.
I hope not as I want my free Palestine USB dongle.

I hear what you're saying and to an extent I don't disagree. However, there are estimates that up to 25,00 jobs are at risk in the outbound travel sector, because of Brexit. Its not just the personal interests of travel co.s at stake. Timing could be better.

New BANKSY stall, by Lroy on Nov 2, 2018 22:36:33 GMT 1, I spoke to a VIP aboit it. You can only collect the print from Palestine.
Banksy said : free stuff. Hundreds or Thousands of people will try to get in ( + other people looking for other stands / what a mess lol ). It will be obviously a farce that is not a farce. But, is it great to play with simple people or/and mass hysteria as supermarkets or big trust are playing to make the event, the buzz and publicity on their brand ? It makes me think to Orson Welles causing a nationwide panic with his broadcast of โWar of the Worldsโ, as a real radio... Anyway, it wonโt be this, Banksy is for โ peace through paint โ .. but It wonโt be so peaceful too. No irony at all here. Will it be as the opening of Harrods sales or Black Fridays ?
โ Free stuff โ are magical words in these hard periods...
So, why I quoted you Posterbob ? Because if there are 1000 not free prints at 500 quids ( as said Lord Lucas listening Radio Twitter and hearing words from an obscure AFR forum for industry - โ allo where are you Orson ? โ ) , I believe more your version : to get this guest ghost print at the WOH - than the other version. A ticket should make the deal : You book the flight and you get your print to the WOH. Anyway some have already these golden tickets and have booked already the hotel ( do I hear voices too ? Just read some comments in social media before the Banksy announce ) .
Banksy is coming back - after some art in the streets, shows as Dismaland or WOH, etc - to his โ agitateur โ and โ troublemaker โ mind, as for the Dfaced tenner or Paris Hilton pranks , and we love him for that. The only change - as we could already see that weeks ago in Sothebyโs - is that his PR is more powerful now ! A big entertaining/enterprise ? Worrying ? I donโt know. ( did you follow me on this one or is it still a bit confused ๐คทโโ๏ธ ๐คทโโ๏ธ ? )

New BANKSY stall, by Rouen Cathedral on Nov 2, 2018 22:36:58 GMT 1, Oh deary me. What a disaster in waiting. This is all over sneaker Twitter and the reseller community is going wild. The profit expectation v reality is going to be splendid. Pass the popcorn. PS. This thread is running to at least 50 pages.
We have an extraordinary both sides political work by JR that can't get the discussion into a second page but a look at me attention grab that will get people fighting for worthless freebies.
Yeah....

I accept all that. But we are not talking about trying to bring down travel companies, but rather raising awareness of the needs of Palestine. The needs of Palestine and the desires of travel companies are not mutually exclusive. I accept that I am uneducated in relation to the intricacies of travel companies and this trade fair, but my gut feeling is that if the by product of this is some disruption at the trade fair, that is a price worth paying for shining a spotlight on the needs of Palestine.
Edit - I do hope that this doesnโt come across as stroppy. It isnโt intended to be. Itโs rather pleasant to have a grown up discussion on here.

New BANKSY stall, by Winter on Nov 3, 2018 1:24:53 GMT 1, But mostly those that voted to leave. If the vote wasnโt there it wouldnโt have happened, A wasp will only land on YOUR jam sandwich if you actually have one in the first place.
Something so simple yet delicious about a jam sandwich - going to have one tomorrow.

New BANKSY stall, by Jalouse Rosemont on Nov 3, 2018 1:57:22 GMT 1, I've heard that they've just finished painting the handlebars of the Colour Trolleys and will release that new version over the two days alongside finishing the sticking of the glitter on the Gorilla and releasing that too.

New BANKSY stall, by Hairbland on Nov 3, 2018 1:59:05 GMT 1, Nobody here knows anything. Thinking he is working a "look at me" moment is biased, thinking he is trying to promote his hotel shows a complete lack of awareness as to what Banksy is about. He is a world class artist operating at a level most don't understand. May I politely suggest dropping the inflammatory remarks and sharing your insight? (Yeah im a hypocrite but Iโm trying at least) I would think as fans the conversation would be more interesting and complex. It seems obvious he is looking to create an incident to bring attention to Palestine. If this is the Banksy place, at this point in his career the question should be why. And will it work.

Probably best that we wait and see. It may be that we are talking this up in to something itโs not going to be. Or it might be something exciting that we are all not expecting. Letโs see what happens.
