I'm a JR fan, have big printouts of my son and me, met him at ballet. I think Banksy connects with the mainstream, JR tries to. I live in NYC he's been working this town with his publicist for years. Maybe it's the medium.

I saw your 2 posts on the JR thread, 1 briefly mentioned JR then ripped Banksy, the 2nd just ripped Banksy. So your postings in a thread (JR) you like were essentially worthless, much like here. Pick one - post on JR thread, say good things about JR instead of ripping Banksy, or post here, ripping Banksy but do it in an intelligent manner without praising JR.

I'm planning a trip over there and have been for a while but haven't yet booked. Trying to work out the dates and with Brexshit happening in March were gonna go before that. Whatever he's up to tho its going to cause some hysteria no doubt.
I can imagine arriving at the hotel and seeing prints in the gift shop for collection from anyone that's purchased at this exhibition... and me not having a ticket or something hah, but I'm not getting on this one, can't afford to skip a day working for a mental journey to the big smoke just on the slimmest of chances of there being something special. But best of luck to anyone who does! I'll be keen to see what happened.

This includes tourism boards promoting impoverished countries and cities as well as huge focus on sustainable and eco tourism. The travel industry is one of the single biggest global employers too. I understand from a uneducated view travel may appear to be about profits and corporations but believe me itโs not for the vast majority. This is a great stunt and will be great awareness for Palestine...but hopefully it will not cause too much disruption to the paying exhibitors or attendance and be an interesting side show for those not familiar.. As I said I think its very likely it may get extinguished due to health and safety. I hope not as I want my free Palestine USB dongle. I accept all that. But we are not talking about trying to bring down travel companies, but rather raising awareness of the needs of Palestine. The needs of Palestine and the desires of travel companies are not mutually exclusive. If I was running a "come-to-Bulgaria-for-your-holidays" stall right next to the Palestinian one I would be very annoyed. I doubt if anyone will even be able to view the Bulgaria stall simply because of the crowds.

I doubt if anyone will even be able to view the Bulgaria stall simply because of the crowds. Boy, Banksy is just sowing the seeds of Bulgarian-hatred towards the Palestinians. |

Let's face it; they go there because it's a Banksy hotel - and they can pick up some Banksy trinkets to take home. No other reason.
I can only speak for myself ... but yes I went to Palestine for the Banksy Hotel .. however I came back a changed person .. the Palestinian situation is now a very important cause for me ... I raise a bit of money for palestininan charities and constantly seek out the latest news from the Middle East ..
Yes I went for the Banksy Hotel .. and yes it's intent worked for me because it's opened my eyes to the apartheid that exists there...
