Faile • Dog Prints, All Editions , by Zippy on Oct 21, 2012 20:41:04 GMT 1, Ok guys, let me respond before I'm hung, drawn and quartered...
I bought the piece off the form member junk a month ago. We agreed on a deal which involved cash and 2 prints. We discussed this and found a middle ground we were both happy with.
For personal reasons (which I do not feel necessary to share on a public forum) I need to raise some money over the next 2 weeks. I thought that this had not been framed yet and therefore last in, first out.
I posted it as £1200 or best offer and would see what offers I got.
I pmd the original seller to see if he wanted to reverse the deal ie take it back.
I did not buy it yesterday on an online release nor do I feel great for having to sell it. I do have other art I could have offered up first but as I said above, it was last in first out.
I'm not crying about it but just giving my response.

I need some money and thought this could go. Nor am I trying to rub anyone's face in it.
To say to any new collectors to be careful is unnecessary as I have never behaved in a fraudulent way, never dishonestly ripped anyone off or tried to obtain by deception etc..

Uh... Don't you remember calling me a flipper on a for sale thread of mine? Within 2 hours I had an extra minus 11.
Your reason for selling this Faile is not our concern. Since you didn't bother to ask why I was selling my print at the time. However, you still managed to comment in the negative on my thread.
Everyone resells prints. At cost or not. Everyone has their reasons. With that said, just don't be so quick to sour other members for sale threads in the future. (I'll be watching....)
At any rate, good luck with your sell. It is a beautiful piece, and one of my favorite Faile images.

No Zippy, it is necessary to warn this community of your dubious sales tactics when dealing with new collectors. A while back, a friend of mine who was totally new to street art was looking to buy her first ever print, one she'd seen at my house that had recently been released and instantly sold out, and asked me if I knew of one for sale. I suggested she join this forum, and sure enough one popped up for sale from you soon after. She was surprised by your high asking price as I'd already given her an idea of what she should be paying based on ebay and other sales, but she was more concerned about the selective info you chose to give her and the way you presented it to back up your ridiculous price, as it was world's apart from my own basic research. She showed me the PM's between the pair of you and I was horrified by what I read, you were clearly and deliberately trying to take advantage of her naivety. Fortunately all ended well for her as she bought the same print a few days later from another member here for exactly half the price you were asking.
Just gets worse..

I think this is entirely reasonable... no-one ever gets their asking price. If you bought something at £1k and wanted to get that back, you'd probably list it at something similar, expecting to negotiate down wouldn't you?
As for the last in, first out scenario - I sort of get that too.
I can't comment on Zippy's other dealings but think he's getting a pretty hard time for the above.
Just my two cents worth...

and on that note. zippy. i'll take it at 1,000GBP :-) PM me if we are close enough to talk.

Faile • Dog Prints, All Editions , by Coach on Oct 22, 2012 22:04:50 GMT 1, For what it's worth, I've bought a couple of things off zippy. Both have been perfect deals. I guess that zippy has stated a price that gives him room for negotiation. If he had put it up for what he paid for it, potential buyers would have tried to negotiate him down. But most importantly, imo, he checked with the person who sold it to him first. Sometimes a need arises to sell something. I cant see that zippy has done anything wrong I think. My 2 pence worth.
