When viewing this as 'art' the fact that it's raising money for a charity has to be removed. Unless you want to argue that banksy is now creating art by giving to charity and if thats the case then Bella Gladmans 'ludicrous pompousness' idea rings true again.

Once again I don't see anyone criticising the fact that banksy is raising money for something he thinks is important.

You are then left with the boat. At dismaland it was an art installation with direct involvement from a visitor and connected to the theme of the entire place. Remove it changes entirely.

How often do we on the forum moan and complain when someone rips a street piece from the street saying the work is ruined.

Now in this case and what is probably banksys purpose is that it does not matter because he's raises money. And that's fine.

The critique isn't the raffle, the charity or the artist. It's the response by 'fans' and the greed and the spin to call this a banksy sculpture and an original work of art. Everyone who entered would have entered anyway even if the money was going to banksys pocket. On reflection this is the true genius of the 'work' (concept) and artist. An artist showing the true colors of the art world, the collectors greed and exposing many of his own collectors and fans without them realizing it.

The concept is genius. The charity giving is noble and generous. The boat is just that... A boat that was once part of a great art installation...

For crying out loud either pay the 2 quid and have a go at guessing the weight of the boat or don't and please stop whinging.  Then maybe take a moment to thank your lucky stars its not you or your loved ones being forced to be on one of those boats.  Turning this gesture into a stupid argument is pathetic and shows a complete lack of class, its disgraceful please stop it....& yes of course its a genuine Banksy Artwork.
