Itโs been said on here many times in the past, Dolk has piles of images that would make great prints, but I donโt see how POW can be blamed for that, Dolk could have easily just kept releasing the prints himself.
Iโm sure Dolk probably has at least 10 images just sat waiting!

In contrast, his Mona Simpson and his other Mona Lisa showing her buttocks are awesome! Maybe he's suffering from some forgetfulness (or inspiration), like a lot of street artists right now, aside from the big ones ... The end of POW has killed them all (or almost), at least the market of the print etc ... A certain street-art is dead, moreover, it had it, like the clean one of the street-art and the world of grafftit is to be revolutionary, claiming, irrelevant, protesting, at least with a certain rebellious, critical and sacarchistic spirit, which, alas, has disappeared in favor of "beautiful things to hang on" ...

Might be a little bit of sour grapes, due to declining popularity.... Nick is a decent stencil artist, still earning a living, although I am sure it is getting harder and harder as his market (I think) has narrowed. I know he does shows everywhere around the world, but how successful they are, who knows. I am sure he doesn't command the prices he used to..... For quite a while in the early days, 2007-2011'sh, Black Rat Press, Mike Snell (AKA one half of the Conning Brothers, sorry Connor Brothers), used to release his prints and punt all his canvases to the excited public! They used to sell out fast and the canvases commanded good money. The relationship soured between them though and Nick's market declined after that. How much do Nick's canvas's sell for these days? I remember a headless astronaut selling on here for 1k couple years ago, they used to be 20k! It is so important for artists to have good management to build on the hype. If is it not managed properly, it is all too easy for their popularity to decline (Micallef and Neate to name another couple who were at the top of the scene back then). It is easy to look back and be a little bitter when popularity wains, I hope this is not the case with Nick because I think he is rooted in the British urban art scene and I would like to see a resurgence of his work! Just my 2 pence worth............

It is easy to look back and be a little bitter when popularity wains, I hope this is not the case with Nick because I think he is rooted in the British urban art scene and I would like to see a resurgence of his work! Just my 2 pence worth............ Steve Lazarides manage Micallef who did alright with Banksy! There were 2 issues with releases by Micallef which I think have tarnished his reputation, namely the Impure Idol sets (too expensive on release) and GIWTBB.(edition size too big) Apart from that, Micallef bravely changed direction and IMO is producing his best work ever. Micallef's one of the most important British artists currently on the scene. Even his older work still stands up and is still as exciting and relevant. (21st Century Love, Dirty deluxe) just my 2 pence worth! 21st Century Love and Dirty Deluxe are two cartoons compared to what he is doing now. |

I have no idea what's behind his instagram post. There does seem to be him saying that POW blocked certain artists prints being sold on their platform in order to get people to buy other artists prints.
Were they worried that Dolk would become more popular than Banksy way back then?
The way I have seen things is that there does seem to be a clique of artists who promote each other and get the gigs to paint on walls etc and get the sales. I don't think it's about ability or content and more about being in the right clique and getting the promotion.
I like Dolk's art his stencil stuff is original.
