Port Talbot Banksy garage owner 'struggling', by Always Second on Jan 19, 2019 11:05:00 GMT 1, The owner of the garage used for Banksy's most recent artwork said he has been in "freefall" since it appeared and is struggling to cope with the responsibility. The mural appeared on steelworker Ian Lewis' wall in Port Talbot a week before Christmas. Mr Lewis, 55, told BBC Wales he now needs help to find a long-term solution for it. "It's been very, very stressful and very surreal," he said. "It's just all been so much for me. I'm actually managing an arts attraction by myself. "There's in excess of one thousand people going there a day, all hours, day and night. I just can't cope with it now, to be honest with you." Mr Lewis said if it hadn't have been for the intervention of actor Michael Sheen, who offered to help pay for security over Christmas, he would already have lost the art through vandalism or theft. "I didn't know at the beginning it was a Banksy, I just thought it was a fantastic bit of artwork, and I was going to cover it and protect it and keep it for myself. Then it just went viral on Facebook that it could be Banksy. www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-46771722?intlink_from_url=https://www.bbc.com/news/topics/cp7r8vglgj1t/banksy&link_location=live-reporting-story
He sold it, no more struggle i guess.

Not a surprise, most people would have. I think the whole 'I'm struggling' story was to justify the sale in advance and avoid the trolls attack. I can understand that and don't blame nor judge the man. He struck gold and was wise enough to cash in. Smart move.

I would think there was a better party to sell it to than John Brandler though.

Port Talbot Banksy garage owner 'struggling', by moron on Jan 19, 2019 13:13:43 GMT 1, Good to see the guy cashed in the Banksy on his shed. If he sold it to Brandler or anyone else it's his choice. He never asked for it and it's all well and good for some including rich luvvies to say it should be preserve din town or forced onto the people in town like some advertising agency forces it's art onto people in towns on billboards etc. That is basically what Banksy and his art has become, an advert for brand Banksy forced onto people via PR and a media campaign promoted by pet journos in certain rags.
The council in Port Talbot should not waste tax payers money on this as there are enough rich Bankynistas who can dip into their own pockets if they so badly want it preserved. Instead the council should spend the time and money on dealing with the pollution in Port Talbot but they won't because as all councils do. If a major exporter or employer poisons or pollutes local they cover it up or say the pollution "in their view" is non existant.
Hope Brandler re sells it for a big profit.
Cm un Banksy hurry up do lots more so people can sell them.
