He's really great with fans of his art, always friendly and chatty, and doesn't sell at the inflated prices he could. He could have put his prices up ages ago, but he doesn't.
To take advantage of that so you can then sell on his work just seems so much worse than flipping something bought on a public release. I hope it doesn't stop him helping out people who actually want to enjoy his work.

I have 5 of marks pieces up on my wall... And am simply selling a print I don't want to hang for the market price...its not that that deep

Sorry @biglobowski. I couldnโt agree more with @whatilike about his comment. Mark is one of the most approachable, genuine and stand up artists Iโve met. Iโd be disappointed in his shoes knowing he was courteous to a fan who was looking to profit where he wasnโt . If you had the good fortune to get one of his APs through him directly, no less one that you donโt love and 5 more that you hung, in all fairness, do Mark and the art community a solid, pay it forward and put it back out there for your cost. Trust me I donโt agree with most of the bullying that goes on in this forum but the negligible profit you are making wouldnโt be something Iโd bend my morals on. I say that having 8 of Marks pieces and a ton of other more valuable work. His are the ones that I may enjoy the most and will never get old. The symbolism is something I appreciate from a time in my life that I cherish and I get to share that with my daughter who sees and enjoys it for something totally different. My 2 cents. Your print, you do with it as you see fit.

It's a brand new limited edition print which will be available to attendees.
As I'm living in France, I can't attend to the ComplexCon.

StolenSpace Gallery is excited to present โPOSSE BITES DENTIST!โ, a solo show of new works by Mark Drew.
Based in Japan since 2009, Australian graphic artist Mark Drew has curated a signature style of remixing rap quotes over Peanuts paintings. This intriguing cross-over ultimately culminates into a feeling of nostalgia.
โUp until around the mid 1990s, the hip hop music I mainly listen to was built on samples from old soul, rock and RโNโB records. The producers of this music often say it came directly from their parents collection, and things they heard in the house growing up. Hip hop is competitive, but the best of it still pays homage to the past. The series Iโm making now is a way of producing artwork in the same way, visually sampling/commemorating my parents collection and interest, and what would also become something special for me.โ โ Mark Drew, 2019.
The comic strip style of the original comics still shines through these nostalgic new paintings by Mark Drew. The signature โspeech bubbleโ now prominently displays samples that pay homage to Drewโs own past experience with music growing up. Drew also utilises a stripped back, bold colour palette that references back to the Charlie Brown comic. Each painting in this new exhibition is being highlighted by a vibrant yellow, reminiscent of Peanutsโ signature yellow shirt.
Mark Drewโs new series of work taps into the process of how 90โs rap and hip hop music would โsampleโ lyrics. His love of both 90โs rap and Charlie Brown comics allows him to seamlessly use characters from the Peanuts gang to illustrate these โsamplesโ, re-contextualising both elements into something fresh and personal.
