Kaws โข MOCAD Print Edition, by Jaylove on May 26, 2019 3:20:57 GMT 1, My own reason for initially visiting this thread is that, after seeing you commented, I wanted to read what you wrote in its context. But as with other recent threads relating to KAWS or the likes of Jonas Wood and Josh Sperling, the (admittedly superficial) impression I get is that a fair few of the contributors are in a heightened state of speculation-based arousal. Since the clothes I have on this evening are quite nice, I might drop in again another day when I'm wearing my plastic rain poncho. I don't think it's a superficial impression that you have. A year ago, almost nobody was talking about Jonas Wood, and there was much less discussion about Kaws as well. So what changed? They are both long established artists whose work has arguably not changed or improved in any meaningful way in the past year. What has changed are the auction results at big houses and ebay. It's all money and speculation. This isn't unique to just these artists though. You could add Harland Miller and Banksy (to some degree) as well. But at least with Banksy, we can discuss the occasional street piece, stunt, or Walled Off Hotel, which to me is vastly more satisfying. Why are there no discussions like that happening with Jonas Wood or Kaws? Exactly. We don't even know what true market value is anymore because of the influences at play to inflate the numbers. This is the world we live in now.

Kaws โข MOCAD Print Edition, by cest on May 26, 2019 18:52:41 GMT 1, Honestly i like smaller prints over large ones(over 40"). I like quality quantity over one larger expensive piece.
My sweet spot for art is 18x24 unframed, but 8" or 10" square is fine for me. Ive been looking at the diet 7 up or 2018 blue frimkess from jw to add a couple/few more images to this wall.
I got off my topic.... I just hung my Brooklyn today. I love it

Kaws โข MOCAD Print Edition, by met on May 26, 2019 19:04:17 GMT 1, Framing the Brooklyn prints in a square frame makes me think of people framing limited or signed compact discs. White or black circular frame ftw. Don't cut corners. Square or circle, make up your mind! This comment made me chuckle.
My own view on circles is that they're completely pointless.

Kaws โข MOCAD Print Edition, by Deleted on May 26, 2019 19:31:04 GMT 1, Jonas Wood and KAWS have been talked about for a lot longer than a year. Just not on this site. But when the auctions started to do well... Everyone on this site got on their nuts... But then again, people like to mention to me over and over this site is not about investing but the loooveee of art... give me a break.
A year ago everyone on this site was obsessed about Pejac but that investment didn't work out as well as KAWS or Jonas Wood; so now on to KAWS and Jonas Wood. I'm very skeptical about any artist that this site promotes honestly. Again too many small art managers, galleries and groups of fan boys pushing artists they own on this site without any really history to back these guys up.
Go to the top galleries, talk to people outside of collecting street art. Diversify you knowledge with people who collect outside of what you do. Jonas Wood was talked about for awhile. You don't just end up at Gagosian out of no where.

Pejac has a few thousand followers on insta. Kaws has hundreds of thousands. JW may not have the sustainability that kaws will (may), but he sure isnt a pejac. Looks at jw's museum placements, which to me , is the true test of sustainability. I know that my kids will walk into a major modern art museum and see stuff from artists i do (and eventually they will) own

Love Kaws, but some of these are not that aesthetically pleasing. Some work very well as mini prints on their own merit. Those are the ones to go for I suppose. Soon it will just be the simpler ones left on eBay. I have seen some really great ones though. Of course the ones with an X are likely to command a premium if buying secondary but I do love some that almost look pop Lyubov Popova to my eye. People selling the better ones will regret it. Kaws is on a mental trajectory. Almost obscene.
