KAWS x Uniqlo, by Eric Pause on Apr 21, 2016 17:13:38 GMT 1, Any of you fine non-Canadian folks going for the Uniqlo Kaws shirts today? I'm looking to pick some up myself, but Uniqlo won't ship to Canada.
If you can help me out, please PM. I'll buy you a couple shirts or something. Thanks!

I got the products to show up on mobile but they say out of stock
mobile site is now working. I think it was saying out of stock because they were still adding them to the mobile site. Don't know why their mobile site is different. I wouldn't worry about stock, they are in business to make money and there will be plenty of shirts to go around.
EDIT: I'm now seeing most of the sizes for all the shirts are sold out... Was not expecting to see the online stock sell out so fast. I'm sure they'll add more stock soon.

I saw that they said a 3 shirt limit in the flagship store on 5th Ave in NYC tomorrow so maybe not(it did say they would have ALL the styles though)

KAWS x Uniqlo, by Inknart on Apr 22, 2016 19:24:37 GMT 1, Just got back from Uniqlo in socal... It was a disaster, no order at all, opened early and a few people literally grabbed around 20-30 shirts each and that was it, no limit per person.

Thats fucked up. Website said 3 limit/person.....already see people flipping for triple on IG. Sadly, once they sold so quickly last night this was bound to happen.

I suspect UNIQLO, as they often do (like with their Haring, Basquiat and their MoMA series), would have produced a lot a lot of these t-shirts, and they will become readily available in stores in the USA as well as worldwide... I hope so anyway!

I went over to one of the Uniqlo's by me at lunch. nobody was there but they only had 4 of the designs anyway, 2 of which i already bought online last night.
they'll make more, and if they are smart, they'll make a TON more. right now there are over 460 listings on eBay for the Uniqlo X Kaws shirts and 100 have already resold on eBay for between $40-50 each.

Whether you’ve seen it at Supreme, at Fashion Week, on MTV, or on a billboard on the side of a bus stop in New York, you know the work of KAWS. The artist who ascended from skate culture has been populating the world with his cartoonish imagery in the form of graffiti, toys, large-scale sculptures, paintings, and numerous fashion world collaborations since the ’90s. Today, his Companion character—a Mickey Mouse–esque humanoid form with x-ed out eyes—is among the most recognizable visuals in the world.
The good news for KAWS fans, who are no doubt familiar with the endless hunt for products designed by the artist, is that this month finds him collaborating with Uniqlo on a line of tees, totes, and slippers adorned with his signature motifs. His cartoonish X’s turn into an allover pattern on a tee, while his bubble heart sits cutely on a breast pocket. The grail item for superfans will be the tops with Companion, sitting bashful with its face obscured by its white-gloved hands, on white and blue T-shirts. At only $14.90, it’s by far the most affordable form of KAWS’s work yet.
In honor of the collaboration, Vogue.com spoke to the artist about the fashion world; his wardrobe staples; and if his line of clothing and toys, OriginalFake, will ever return.
Before this Uniqlo collection, you’ve collaborated with fashion brands from Comme des Garçons to Supreme to Mira Mikati. What makes you say yes to a fashion collaboration? I really enjoy the process of collaborating and see it as a way to introduce my work to new audiences. I’m very specific about who I choose to collaborate with—it’s guided more by personal taste and instinct than business.
The Uniqlo collection is entirely T-shirts, tote bags, and slippers. Why did you want to focus on these categories? I liked focusing on T-shirts, tote bags, and slippers because they are the very basics that one would have at home and outdoors.
How did you choose which designs to include in the Uniqlo collaboration? What was the process of working with Nigo like? When I was invited by Nigo to do this project with Uniqlo, I knew I wanted to use images that are my most recognizable. I see this project as a way to offer my work in cities all over the world. Working with Nigo is easy—I first started working with him about 15 years ago, and I trust him a lot.
Some of your earliest work was graffiti over fashion billboards and ads. What was your early attraction to fashion imagery? I’ve always been drawn to advertising, and the fashion ads had the best photography, so I naturally gravitated toward them. A lot of the liquor and cigarette companies made great billboards that I also enjoyed painting over in the ’90s.
How have you seen art’s relationship to fashion—and vice versa—change over your career? The one big change that I’ve noticed is the importance of fashion companies to work directly with artists and not just reference the look of a certain artist. One artist that I have always looked up to was Tadanori Yokoo and his collaborations with Yohji Yamamoto. Long ongoing collaborations are the best kind!
I want to ask you about your personal style, which I imagine is not an area you’re asked about often. What are your most prized pieces of clothing? If your house was on fire and you could save only three garments, what would you choose? I think anyone who has seen an image of me in the past 20 years knows I mostly wear the same thing every day. I keep it simple and save time to focus on the work I make. I still wear plain black T-shirts and gray or black hats.
Is there a realm of fashion you’d like to explore or work in that you haven’t yet? I’m always up for learning if anyone wants to send some challenges my way.
I think I speak for millions when I say that we really miss OriginalFake. Did the Uniqlo collection stir up any urges to relaunch your own brand? Having OriginalFake was a great experience for me and I always looked at it as a project. I daydream about doing a lot of different things, and I never rule anything out.
KAWS x Uniqlo T-shirts are available online, and arrive in Uniqlo stores today. Totes will be on sale from May 26, and slippers from June 2

Similar experience in SF. I bought one shirt, and another guy in line with like 50 in his arms had the audacity to complain that he had to reduce his sale price from $50 to $60 on eBay because of the "competition." Shameful, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
Salesperson in the store said they'd get more, so I'd hold off if you missed out online.

Daniel Silk • The number or Boards and Threads continues to fall as we simplify the layout of the forum.
Daniel Silk • I hear a lot of Artists complaining about Instagram in the past year, how it used to be a good tool for Artists, but it's not good anymore, is that true?
anyaart • For Brett Kern fans, I noticed there is a spinosaurus for sale on E-Bay. It's a limited edition, one of only 60 made. This is the rarest of his dinosaurs. I am not the seller. I already have the same dino purchased in 2016. I've never seen one up for sale
Daniel Silk • Apology • Sorry I have been offline this past few weeks, due to a very bad Fever. I'm slowly getting better, step by step, and catching up with things here on the forum on the days I'm well enough. Thank you for your understanding.
Boy Wonder • I read that they were more or less nicked the same day they went up. Loads of fakes exist.
milou2 • Would love to see any photos of Banksy's first exhibition at the Severnshed in Bristol (2000). Who was there?*
jirr • Hi all, over here in the states. Pandemic put me out of business, need to sell this asap. Please send offers thanks so much
matgab • Steven Harrington - Gotcha first ed for sale.
1nkling • I can't help but think that a more reasonable tier for people who just want to support the work you guys do would raise more income. Then other tiers for those that want specialist benefits.
1nkling • As soon as I saw the heading for the email I thought 'Oh yeah, I use that place a lot. I'd happily support it'. Not at £40 a month though. I have a paid sub for a Formula 1 site I use that is very active. They have a high uptake on subs at £12 a year.
1nkling • Pricing on the new supporters sub seems a bit poorly thought out. £40 a month to have a pinned sale thread being the only listed benefit?
Daniel Silk • The forum now has more than half the number of Boards than it had a year ago! As we work towards simplifying the layout.
ashj52 • Hi everyone; does anyone know where I may be able to find a George condo prism print? Any guidance on price would also be much appreciated! I contacted AA, they said they cannot disclose whether there will be any further drops this year.
