Beyond the streets - New York 2019, by nobokov on Jun 19, 2019 20:39:54 GMT 1, went to the preview today. as an FYI, there is nothing in the gift shop from any of the following artists: -Invader -Nina Chanel Abney -Takashi Murakami (coming soon though, currently held at customs) -Retna There wasn't really anything in the shop that I wanted to pick up. There is a pretty decent Felipe Pantone diptych edition of 150 for $500 that is probably one of the nicer shop items. Some chairs too. Overall the exhibition looks great; a little more sterile/less 'street'-themed than the LA one, pretty much looks like a museum exhibit rather than a 'street art show' if that makes sense. Highlights for me were the LED Invader (on his insta now), the Cleon Peterson setup, the gigantic Pantone canvas, and the Nina Chanel Abney canvas. Banksy does not seem to be involved this year.
Thanks for sharing. It looks like Retna did give up his spot for Lister. Not sure there needs to be a NYC iteration if it's just a repeat of last summer. Would've loved to have seen this show if it took place in each subway stop and had graf and painting on all of the subway cars.

Basically I left work to run over and see if there was anything at the shop that I wanted while I had first dibs so that was the main goal for my visit today; still ended up walking through a lot of the exhibit while there. Did not have time to go through the entire exhibition but saw probably 80% of it.
Going back this weekend with family to actually soak up the art.

Seems odd there's not more focus on New York artists. Bast and Faile... and Kaws... should have a heavier presence.
Steve Powers is good though... and I think there's a lot of old school graf.
