depends what you consider blowing up? He's been steadily getting more exposure and fans for the past decade or so, simply not at an insane rate like Kaws or wtv

hence why whoever commenting this needs to define "blowing up", he's had a lot of growth as an artist but yes anyone that has followed this knows he's probably not on a path to become blue chip and thats not necessarily a bad thing or his objective... If it was, ive always felt dropping his clothing label would be a first step in that direction

The thing with Parra, is that he isn't in it for the money, but for his own pleasure.
It seems he is not trying to be a commercial succes or a blue chip artist and that's fine. I think he has the potential though, as there are a lot of more expensive artists who I think are less about the art and more about a good management and commercialising their product. 

What is certain, is the fact he's here to stay. His very first works were very cheap, prints at 50/100euro, OG's at less than 2k for large sized stuff. But he's grown in style and so did his audience. He went from a graphic designer, to an artist with a clear, recognisable style and still he is growing in form and colour. This change in price means though, you now have 2 very clear audiences for his work: The students (who buy his clothing and flyers) and the collectors (who, well, collect his prints, sculpts and original work). For me, this works great. You can enjoy/own something of his from as low as 20euro to 15.000euro without compromising on imagery. It's just a different medium.

Of course, everyone compares any other artist to Kaws at this time. But let's be honest, if the Kaws pricehike is the base to start comparing, you don't have a lot artists who would make the cut. From a supply perspective, it's even easier to find an original by Kaws, than an original by Parra. Ha... :-D 

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Can someone offer a clue what Parra was trying to express via this image? And why safety dance? Does it relate to the pogo movement? Thanks in advance!
