Ebay is becoming worse and worse, by Deleted on Jul 27, 2019 14:01:24 GMT 1, What are people using to sell their items? Would like to know which auction house is used the most on this site.
Been using Ebay for years but seems like the service is getting worse and worse. The sales results are dropping there, their customer service is awful for both buyer and seller (especially seller) and their fees are some of the highest out there. Also, just dealing the dumpster divers/idiotic buyers makes Ebay extremely difficult to deal with.
Id rather just use an auction house now than ever dealing with Ebay. There is Heritage.... Sothebys and Christies at the moment won't touch urban art; unless its a special Banksy or KAWS... and I heard horrific stories about Paddle8, but any others?

Ebay is becoming worse and worse, by irl1 on Jul 27, 2019 14:26:35 GMT 1, Heritage now have a weekly sale for lower-end pieces. (online only artsy and home site) Urban Art included
Sotheby's, Phillips and Christies have online only auctions from time to time but not many. They will take pieces from around 800/1,000 and up. Urban Art included.
Artcurial ("Urban Art Sale in October"), Digard (running Urban Art Auctions every few weeks on artsy + home site), Tajan all run Urban Art Sales in France.
Artnet run Urban Art Sales with no sellers fees for pieces over the value of 10k but i think its $250 per item to enter. (not sure never used them)
A lot of auction houses are now running Urban Art Sales or have Urban Art pieces in some of their sales. Check their upcoming sales their sites

I had sold something through them a few weeks past and they screwed me on shipping. Their options for shipping showed a USPS option that did not exist. Neither from EBayโs shipping options nor at the post office. I was out more than the seller fees so I asked for those to be waved. Was passed through numerous idiots and worthless support personnel and gave up after a week. I wonโt buy from them anymore and may not sell unless only option, but Iโll wait till one of those no seller fee deals....

Ebay is becoming worse and worse, by Happy Shopper on Jul 27, 2019 15:11:47 GMT 1, Ebay when thereโs a max ยฃ1 seller fee deal (if itโs valuable) Here! Or private facebook groups. I sold a couple of small bits on there last month. Worked perfectly well, no fees, but be careful when buying!

I was one who sold through Paddle8 but never got paid. Amazed people still use them. I wanted to pursue them through the Courts but Legally it was very expensive as I had to file in Germany. They know how to play it and was advised to mentally write off the money as would never be getting it back.
I worked at Christieโs for a few years and they seem to behave properly. Also had good dealings with buying and selling with Tate Ward. You get a contact there who supports you through the whole process.
Have bought and sold on here and had good experiences and met some great people. But always do your due diligence and get references etc. When buying in the US, I have had forum members travel, check the art and pay for it on my behalf before shipping it. I have then returned the favour for others here in London / UK.
There are good guys on here still.

Ebay is becoming worse and worse, by honestcrooks on Jul 27, 2019 18:02:31 GMT 1, Stay away from Paddle8.
Long story short: I knew that someone was about to sell a piece I wanted. I made an offer, seller thought he would get more from Paddle8. I end up buying it from Paddle8 for (without fees) a bit more than 50% of what I offered privately. Win for me. Until the moment I paid and they prepared the package to be send. They send me pictures of the item broken and ask me if I still want it. Of course I declined and I check back with original seller how it went. He says Paddle8 says it was him who send it broken and there it goes.
eBay has been terrible for me. Always something and as a seller you are almost always in the wrong, whatever happens. The fees are outrageous and the exposure isn't terrific.
I try to sell privately through Facebook, Instagram and from time to time here.
Auction houses are overrated anyway if you have good social circle of collectors. Someone always knows someone who sells what you are looking for if you look well.

Ebay is becoming worse and worse, by Daniel Silk on Jul 28, 2019 13:47:18 GMT 1, People certainly seem to be using the Auction Houses much more in the past few years. I guess in the past the big name Auction houses never had Urban Art Auctions so ebay was the only option for selling.
