Anthony Lister π¦πΊ Australian Contemporary Artist, by skelly on Feb 18, 2009 18:01:38 GMT 1, This is not for me, not one of my favorite Lister images but Lister is one of the best in this scene. At first I didn't appreciate his work because I thought it was centered around the super-heroes and they don't really do it for me...Since looking at his street work and seeing his newest large canvas work as well as his smaller portraits that seem to be moving away from the super-heroes and jumping into new territories I think he will continue to improve and open many more people's eyes to his work

That's my apt actually. That c215 is place holding until my Queen Vic gets back from Pest Control.
And just so you know, the original etching came back and Lister was dissatisfied. So he spent nearly two days straight working on each and everyone until it looked right. I think the price easily justifies the hand finishing and actual labor that went into these. I literally woke up to the smell of spray paint two days ago. I have an A/P and the stencils. They look great and once I get it framed, even better. I have Coke Nights in print form too, but I think this one takes the cake.

To be fair if the etching was right would the price be lower? Thats not the consumers fault so why should they suffer. If the price was already set and the etching had been right what should we expect to pay for this print? Fair question really as your justification of the price was down to the etching not being right and the extra man hours to correct this.

I cant definitely give you the answer on that but I'd suspect the price be a bit cheaper if it were just the etching. I mean how many prints do you own that the artist put labor into? I bet it he's a name artist then the price would justify it. I love the piece but I am also biased

I was there when he decided to do this, and I promise you when you have 45 prints in front of you that have to be individually painted its quite daunting knowing the work that awaits you. He was up working when I woke, and didn't stop till past 4am the next day. There was blood and sweat involved with this one and I know Anthony is proud to present these. If I didn't know him I'd be stoked to have a piece that was worked on by the artist's hand, knowing that everyone isn't the same.

Anthony Lister π¦πΊ Australian Contemporary Artist, by Heavyconsumer on Feb 19, 2009 8:24:38 GMT 1, I liked this image immediately but wouldn't consider it at this price at the moment, even if I was looking to pick something up. I disagree with your points on the pricing Chief, but thanks for the background info anyway - it's always good to hear something of the story behind how the art comes to be what it is.
