If you call 'killing everything' painting pretty much the same face over and over again outside for pretty much his whole career, then yes he is 'killing everything'. If you like the face, great. I actually do too but so many street artists live off of one or two images it's get so tiring. That stencil redo is pretty much the most different thing he's done in awhile. For him to say he's over stencils is a joke. Sorry, not trying to take a shot at you but sometimes it seems people are too content in this scene to see the same ol' same ol'.

Anthony Lister π¦πΊ Australian Contemporary Artist, by Deleted on Nov 20, 2012 3:43:43 GMT 1, Lister for me perfectly surmises an artist who is yet to find his muse, so many of his ideas seem to not that well thought out... I find it incredibly difficult to describe the thought process behind his work without basically sniggering. For a dad, with bills to pay, the work still feels like someone 10+ years younger. I truly hope he finds some emotional / socio / political drive to display that makes his work truly come to life.

Anthony Lister π¦πΊ Australian Contemporary Artist, by holden on Nov 20, 2012 6:23:43 GMT 1, A fan of Lister having appreciated a lot of his work he has put up but agree with 7nothing and the dawg. I thought his street art was intended to be very separate from his gallery work, his words, not mine. Of late, it seems a lack of inspiration, the super heroes having been exhausted, the street faces have now become the focus and it is all getting a little similar. Having said that, the ballerinas were beautiful and hopefully they'll be more along this line

Anthony Lister π¦πΊ Australian Contemporary Artist, by jusdeep on Nov 20, 2012 8:46:05 GMT 1, Totally agree with the above comments. I did enjoy the show at The Outsiders far more than expected after seeing the preview. At present I'm finding more joy from his street work and think he is too. I'm certainly no Lister fan, but do appreciate his style and occasionally his work mesmorises me. At the moment though I feel that his work isn't ticking the right boxes and although he's left the super heroes behind maybe a more concerted and thought out push is needed to give his work the excitement it once had.

I do agree about the ballerinas. I know they weren't to everyone's taste but I thought they were great and showed real movement and poise. Think similar work with say runners or cyclists or any kind of athletic activity would work well.

The same Inch that released prints last year with gallery onethirty3... exercising his inner artfag.
"AN UNWANTED ADDITION!!!
If I wanted a big scrappy looking round faced character on my piece, I would have got myself some half blocked caps and did it myself. I think I speak for most writers when I say no one wants to see this weak ass/waste of space stuff in a hall of fame.
Iβm just off out to the pretentious gallery in town where this idiot has a show to add some of my letters to his paintings see how that goes down! "

Nipped over to Hong Kong yesterday to see the Anthony Lister show at a small gallery. His first time in Hong Kong. Had little promotion so no one really there Mikey Dread tipped me off as heard or seen nothing here. Advertised prints but they did not have any. Had a pink ballet dancer theme to the show. He was there of course and was giving the gallery organizer who was Japanese a bit of flack. Here's some pics of the works. This seems weird for Lister i get the feeling he didn't really want to do this show. www.fecalface.com/SF/index.php/good-stuff/1926-anthony-lister-preview

It should be the gallery giving it to him for the look of the show. Do something right or not at all. I also can't stand when people in general don't use discretion when arguing with someone. But since you happen to catch the conversation..... what'd ya here? ;D

Anthony Lister π¦πΊ Australian Contemporary Artist, by johnnyh on Dec 2, 2012 23:20:12 GMT 1, Nothing in particular to be honest he was just being a bit of an arse. Do this do that etc why isn't this why isn't that. Also about the promotion as only a couple of people there.
Complaining because they had wine and snacks even (I was slugging an chaffing away!!!). Wouldn't mind but he arrived an hour late.
To be fair to him it was pretty poor all round.
