Which day? I was at the launch party on the night before opening. 90% of people that went in (after Brian's talk) were only admiring the art.. they didn't care about the gift shop until they got to the end.

I went to the members preview the day before the opening and it was the same. 99% of people were interested in the shop so I basically had the whole gallery to myself too, it was nice.

There are companions and some other statues "coming soon" in the NGV design store. No eta, no details. Three colorways, one black, one pink, one dissected. Apologies for not knowing the terminology, but these aren't really my thing.
I enjoyed the show and really would have liked an exhibition book like the Ngv is known for, so enquired afterwards. There is one coming. Apparently Kaws wanted photos from the show itself open to the public, which is why it wasn't available on launch. Hopefully next month, maybe. Show runs until April 2020. I am promised it will not be limited, and there will be "plenty for everybody"...
The shop has plenty of interesting things, though I'm not really sure what kaws fans/forum members are interested in. Standard big gallery stuff like tote bags, then there were the oversize postcards which are quite nice, sets of enamel badges(p.i.n.s. autocorrects to Paul insect...), ceramic plates... almost enough to make you a cynic ;-)
I'll definitely be grabbing a book though, and can probably help out fellow forum members here if they're after one (please don't PM til they're announced, though).

As does Murakami and unfortunately Futura as well. Which makes it harder to keep on keepin in with them.
