They have a Brett Kern exhibition on right now and when that closes next year they are selling all of those too.

Brett Kern ruined my Saturday.

 They are nothing like Koon's stuff that he pays others to make by copying inflatables toys etc because he has no original ideas of his own but knows that cos he is very rich and he hob nobs with very rich pretentious types that all speak and look like they big elastic band over their faces (too tight plastic surgery) and that the artworld is rigged and the auction houses are in on hyping prices for certain artworld investors who sell certain art names.

 Whereas Kerns ceramics shows the skill and craftsmanship and art in his work. 

  They are nothing like Koons.

The Koons comparison is so superficial. I have no issues with Koons and think some of his work is nice. I don't see any of it as anything other than decorative, but some of it is nice to look at. 

Brett Kern's dinosaurs have a lot more charm than Koons' work, I think. Like you say, Koons' sculptures are cold. They don't invite you to come closer. They're pristine and remote. The inflatables don't actually look like they might really be inflatable; they're too perfectly proportioned.

Kern's inflatables make you want you to touch them. They look very convincingly inflatable and you just want to pick them up (I have had to stop many friends doing exactly that because they thought they were vinyl). They're cute and charming.

I don't think there's all that much point comparing them because I don't think Kern is trying to be a big, important artist (his insanely reasonable pricing doesn't suggest he's in it for the cash). He's making witty, lovingly crafted things for people to enjoy, not appreciate from a distance. He's not ripping anyone off. He's just playing with a similar idea, but in a far more humble way.

Nothing from Brett this time. However, I scored the pink Triceratops he posted on IG. Should be here be Friday. 

I dont think using a T-Rex to finish the decorating in your kids bedroom would be a good idea, they've only got short arms so wouldn't be able to reach the high bits with a paint brush!

I scored two on yesterday’s secret drop!

Anyone clued up on what the correct rate of import tax should be on these? Got away with the first one I bought direct from Brett but have just been stung with a £28 Import VAT and £12 clearance fee. Prefer to make sure this is about right before I pay up.
