Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by printminx on Dec 2, 2019 13:10:20 GMT 1, Well after reading this thread I felt a lot more comforted about how members coped with the ordering process. I am quite confident about paying by Apple pay normally, I pay most things with it, so why when they unexpectedly started the process a few minutes early did my heart start going twenty to the dozen , my brain flew out the window and despite changing from my mac to my phone the bloody confirmation button wouldn't work and as a last resort I went back on the mac and ordered on my credit card by which time my confirmation email was up in the 3000+ and I was sooooooo stressed!!! Its crazy, I saw a program on climate change the other day and thought - what am I collecting for as in the not too distant future everythings ****** anyway and it won't matter how many signed or unsigned Banksy you have as they wont help you breathe better and me never getting anywhere in the lotteries for Banksy works from the old POW days to now will be totally irrelevant. Then I thought............. maybe just one would be nice for however long it lasts........ eternal optimist that's me.....

Laz will claim the the 1st edition will be sold out in an hour for sure (even if not) so he can promote it as sold out within 24 hours. And the second edition goes online right after with a different cover?
So collectors will buy another one to have both covers? Is the first edition numbered?

I'm pretty sure he can rustle up 5000 buyers within 24hours and won't need to lie about it. He was integral to the Banksy phenomena whatever has 'gone on' behind the scenes won't ever change that. Nice one Laz ...viva the original team Banksy

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by elevenspots on Dec 2, 2019 16:19:02 GMT 1, asking for a friend....
Is the book called "Captured" by Steve Lazarides and he has a photo with the word Banksy on the front cover - - has the name changed from it's original?
or
Is it called "Banksy Captured" - using the word "Banksy" as a photo instead of "copy"
If it's called "Captured" - could this have something to do with the Banksy "trade mark" and/or the ongoing beef that Steve has/has not with the man himself (noting Banksy stating on his website "not managed by Steve Lazarides" etc...
Lots of " " , sorry!

He’s got 17.5k followers on IG alone, not including any other social media platform or email subscription. Then there is the secondary media and advertising in papers, new sources that have circulated. 5k books is easily achievable, plus.. what would he then do with left over version 1 that he claimed to have sold but didn’t. Furthermore, probs against some commercial law about stating your selling x amount of a ltd edition and then ‘pretending’ you’ve sold them so you can sell further editions?!

Anyway what could we expect for an edition of 5000 ex ? First or not, it's a big edition and it's not a book by Banksy, bur on Banksy ( with pics seen hundred of times )... Anyway, weird message and commercial use..

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by drip on Dec 2, 2019 16:53:49 GMT 1, Well after reading this thread I felt a lot more comforted about how members coped with the ordering process. I think we're allowed to own things (unless you're involved in that Dresden jewellery heist). Not many of us can go through this life without acquiring at least a few items that give us pleasure or momentarily distract us from our inescapable decline and demise, as well as the ultimate futility of life and inevitable heat-death of the universe.

I don't think Banksy will have to buy a copy off of Amazon. He was probably sent a signed & inscribed proof copy months ago, so he could check to see whether he needed to wake his legal team up.

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by printminx on Dec 2, 2019 17:33:54 GMT 1, It did feel a bit disloyal to buy this book and I was going to excuse myself by reasoning that there are two sides to every story and I am not party to what went on and should therefore give some benefit of the doubt as I dont know all the facts but then........ I thought basically ............. I am a bit pissed off ....... nothing came of Banksy GNP lottery......... I never got anywhere with the POW draws and Phlegms Luxuria which I REALLY wanted and the 30 year special from Obey was in my trolly and then it wasn't ......... so I decided I would have the book and maybe get a Banksy £10, hardly the holy grail but at least a bit of Banksy........ and that didnt work but that's life!

Tbh, your most likely correct. I did only say probably as I’m no consumer rights expert or have any legal background. However, lying about selling out of a limited edition you could potentially argue that it falls foul to Unfair Trading Regulations by pretending that the offer is only available for a very limited time to pressure customers into an immediate decision. 🤷🏻♂️
Agreed on the media power. But you say that there is a law which forbids you to claim that your product has sold out? No way... The Graffiti Prints team would fulfill a life sentence in jail now... 🤷🏻♂️

You all know what "sold out" means right? It's not a legal term. It means they're not selling any more at that price.

Sorry buddy, I wasn’t referring to the Graffitiprints comment. Just the discussion on the legality of the hypothetical idea that saying something was sold out when it wasn’t to create sales is dishonest and most likely against trading regulations.

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by inefficiency of on Dec 2, 2019 18:02:50 GMT 1, Agreed on the media power. But you say that there is a law which forbids you to claim that your product has sold out? No way... The Graffiti Prints team would fulfill a life sentence in jail now... With a pinch of critical thinking, it's very easy to determine that the two situations would be very different. In one case, a business has 100 of 'a thing' and decides to sell 90 of them at that time. When those 90 are sold, they are sold out. What they may choose to do with the remaining 10 at some future point is entirely up to them. The allocation that were for sale are all sold. In the other case, a business has more of an item that they can sell, and creates false urgency through dishonesty to encourage more people to panic buy. It then falsely declaring the items have all been snapped up, either to create hype or to save face after disappointing sales. (I'm not suggesting that's the case with this book, by the way, I'm simply the situation that was suggested). For me, the former situation is not dishonest - at worst, there's a lack of transparency about whether 100 or 90 or 80 were available for sale. The latter situation would be dishonest.
The later is what I was insinuating from the hypothetical situation, I feel that would be against trading regs.
