BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by iamzero on Aug 9, 2020 7:24:54 GMT 1, What’s best recommended way to get banksy banksquiat print framed? Anyone have good recommendations on specs / materials / type of frame etc...? Also, is it appropriate to wait at the frame shop while they do it? I don’t feel right leaving an expensive piece of art at a shop, or does everyone do that ? Thx
Like a McFraming Drivethrough? Guessing your quite new to this. GMA is right though.

To be fair, Ive arranged a framing job before with MFM where I dropped it off in the morning, pootled around Norwich for half a day, then collected it back that same day. It was all arranged beforehand but can be done.
Mine wasnt necessarily for security reasons, just because I happened to be in the area but live nowhere near Norwich.
Ps now I want a McDonald's breakfast.

Wouldn‘t it be possible to bring the artwork to the framer, get ist measured and take it with you afterwards. And then to just come back when everything is arranged to get the actual framing done. Tbh I would feel not safe either to deposit my banksy there for weeks... sadly i had no luck at gdp, but i unterstand @vamoose138 concernings.

If you don't trust your framer to look after your art, you probably shouldn't be trusting them to frame it.
Like iamzero says, a good framer will have insurance to cover a very high value, well beyond what a Banksquiat is worth. Ask them about insurance coverage before you commit. They should be perfectly happy to answer.

Thx Leaving it with them is how it's usually done, framing takes time and there can be a backlog, materials have to be ordered in. You'll want to get it framed to conservation standards, uv protected glass, acid free mounts etc.. have a search on here for framers, mister frameman is a popular choice, others will also have recommendations, I use niche in Bristol. "Welcome to the jungle" 😉
“ conservation standards, uv protected glass, acid free mounts etc..”
Okay thanks for that info. what else did people that already got it framed use & what were your all’s measurements?
Basically share your setups
& yes new & feel uncomfortable because I don’t “have a framer” Any framing business is new / not known to me. Sure Id expect / hope any place to be professional but people are people. Museum art theft is 3rd largest crime in the world majority of time done by insiders too... Just saying = /

When I said "Welcome to the jungle" I really meant it, you'll go down so many rabbit holes, it's good fun though but of course a lot to take in. I remember one of my first prints, not having a clue and just throwing it into a shop bought frame, it didn't even fit, I bent the edges to make it fit. So you're already on the right tracks by being here and asking.
This site, along with its members, have a wealth of knowledge for you to take a look at, have a little hunt around, see what people have done with their own prints, see what takes your fancy.
Alternatively, if you don't feel comfortable leaving the print with a framer you might be better off storing it, but that also brings its own problems. I mean, it's a great problem to have, but you know what I mean.
If I was in your shoes, with little to no knowledge, I'd hunt around on here, and also see which framers people recommend, if you're based in the UK, you have lots to choose from. Whatever you do, just make sure it is to conservation standards, fully reversible. If you're talking to a framer and they're saying "Oh, that's quite expensive" just hang up and move on. Also check what other prints they have framed in the past.
Here are a few:

I wasn’t lucky enough to win one of these but I am based in London and have used Mark at PFG (Picture Frame Gallery) for other stuff. I looked on here for recommendations but also looked on the framers’ Instagram feeds to see what sort of art they framed and how others had their art framed. Mark at PFG’s Instagram feed for eg shows different mounts/frames/styles/colours that may give you ideas. Plus he shows framed Banksys, Stiks, Kaws, etc which would hopefully reassure you that he can be trusted with art of that ilk. There are examples on here too of how others have framed theirs - both black & grey versions.

Rest assured with quarter inch thick acrylic with UV protection and sealed framing all across, this artwork is in good hands

Surprised it came about so quickly. And if so, why does it seem the forearem was cut off under the mat? Or do I need to see an opthalmologist asap

Yea, I am surprised how quickly his faded. But also not, since the paper is so fragile. Mine is framed already so just hope the glass does what it says it will. I would think just a portfolio for storage in a cool, dark place. I like these personally. www.baroqueportfolios.com/
