Yoshitomo Nara 🇯🇵 New Print Release • Contemporary Art , by Hairbland on Apr 18, 2020 11:22:08 GMT 1, I agree with you geezermate, so at the end there is a real difference between the first edition limited of 1000 and this second open edition Like convincing yourself you’ve not gotten fat. Suck in that stomach!

Yoshitomo Nara 🇯🇵 New Print Release • Contemporary Art , by juni0209 on Apr 18, 2020 11:30:41 GMT 1, It's a great thing to give an opportunity to collectors to own an affordable Nara but no matter how you look at it it's bad practice the way they did it..forget about flipping or secondary market profits blah blah..you announced a limited run of 1000 then you release the same image as open edition and somehow you actually include the first run as part of the open edition..is that not deceiving? And yes I bought one on the secondary market but I would have gladly bought one now at 200usd as open edition if I knew it's going to happen..that's my point..some of you don't really get it.. imagine Baltic Center needs the money and it does a second open run for Cosmic Girl which sells now for about 20k at auction and will announce, hey actually this is now an open edition..it's the same thing guys..just do it as an open edition from the beginning..no flipping,no profiteering ,no secondary market.. simple..or if you wanna differentiate the runs juts add an in plate signature for the limited run or whatever..but this iss**tE as a matter of principle. My point exactly. And just think about it, who has been hit hardest by this? The flippers? You're joking right? Ok now they won't make money on these but they're not going to be out of pocket. They just need to sit on them a little while and they'll get their money back. It's the fans and collectors who've been hit the hardest spending well over the odds acquiring one from the secondary market.
would be fair points if it was limited but it wasn't

This was 100% listed as an edition of 1000, then updated to “open edition of 1000”. I don’t have a screengrab but Sotheby’s aren’t stupid and wouldn’t just take a sellers word for it so I suspect whoever sold through there did.
These will still hold an appeal but it really sucks for the genuine fans who picked up on the secondary market who are the only ones who have really been burned here.

Then put your full name and address in the comment box.
I checked out this way and then emailed them the Ref number to change the shipping country.
At least this way you have one booked and paid.
The worst that can happen is you get a refund

Any idea on UK shipping cost?

I’m guessing a lot of eBay flippers who listed this as a limited edition will be getting requests for refunds right now from buyers? I guess you could claim the item received wasn’t as listed? I tend to avoid eBay like the plague but pretty sure they always come down on the side of the buyer in any disputes?

Could be said that it is still limited because it came with the sticker pack.

eBay Flippers made their cut and wont need to refund people.
The only ones suffering from this move are the real fans who bought these prints on the secondary for 700-1000€ - there a lots of them.

I don’t have a horse in this race but say I bought a copy on eBay which was listed by the seller as a limited edition of 1000. Could I not then start to process a refund saying that in fact the item was mis-sold as this has been confirmed as an ‘open’ edition?
Doesn’t affect me either way but I’m wondering if some of the people freaking out on IG are kicking off because they’ve suddenly had refund requests for the £5k worth of posters they just laughed about flipping?

This creates an interesting dynamic, as eBay was the source of the ambiguity in the first place! Wonder what their position would be...
