Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by Zippy on Sept 28, 2020 16:27:58 GMT 1, Huge congrats on getting one. Speak with your Insurance company first to see the difference in premium between £175, 200 and 250 etc. If it was stolen or damaged they might only pay out to the replacement value so no point in over paying on the premium.
If Artdelight is currently selling them online at £195,000 (and can back that up with sales invoices etc etc) then you should certainly insure higher in this strange climate.

For the sake of £100 I just went for 250. It lasts a year anyway and I’m not looking to sell, just need to know about framing now!

Framing wise, don't go cheap.
If you are near London use Darbyshires or others of that ilk
Please don't go to someone without recommendations
As an example some local to me framers who are part of the framers guild etc etc use parcel tape on the back to hold the print to the mount, think of what that would do to the value. However on a very slight positive it's unlikely the artwork will slip out the mount
Congrats on the print, fantastic

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by mitch20 on Sept 28, 2020 16:58:46 GMT 1, Has anyone on here used Darbyshires for framing and can tell me what type they went with?
I’ve trawled back through a few pages and the only other one I can see mentioned is Graham Bignell. Any other London framers that someone has first hand experience with?
Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Mitch, For something of this value, I would use Pauli Frames in London. You get excellent framing with archival materials etc.. Many use Darbyshires and I am sure they will also offer the right conservation options but you will be paying a high price for it!
Good luck and enjoy your special piece.

Have you posted a picture of yours? If not, what type of frame did you go for? Was it similar to the GDP picture?
Thank you to everyone else for all the recommendations.

I know it was no me you ask, but I have chose Nordic oak for the frame with olie/was zurface. It is High floating with white background.. I have no pictures because the framing is in progres at the moment😊

Use metal or thick acrylic..times have changed make sure your famous framer is up to date

What do you mean with "wood fumes" the oak they use for the frame has dried out in several of years. The frame does also have spacers so there is no wood visibel inside the frame. It is one of the best paper conservator there is doing the job, PLEASE let me know if you have some information I do not have... I thought "nude" frame in wood was totally normal to choose..

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by acaipride on Sept 28, 2020 23:23:26 GMT 1, I'll make this as brief as I can(your framer should know this, if not, move on, trust me) Oak is one of the worst woods for conservation, it has one of the most volatile acidity known for wood working and conservation. All wood is made up of the same chemical compounds that exude fumes regardless of curation(3coats of shellac is standard, and yet that lets the chem fumes from the wood pass through in due time). If you want to use top wood use pawlonia wood, asian antique museums use it on a last resort basis.
I can go on and on with knowledge from different libraries and update standards but I have done this before and people just choose to believe what they want, though science typically is spot on. Go for metal framing or acrylic, make sure there is an aluminum mylar layer in the backing and sealing of the frame, this is a must for ambiance variations. The updated knowledge is out there if you search, most framers just do not take the time to research what nnot because they do not have the time or have a business to run etc..but the updated scientific findings incorporated into conservation practices has leaped in the last 10 years.
